Disintegration is a good flare for a bando.

Do they really make that big of a difference?

Its a sweet bando, no question about it.

But I just got done tracking 1000 throws of my ice flaring axe bando, and it was slightly more than 2% for the flare to activate.

Granted every time I throw I am going for a neck or a head so not only do I have to miss the body part and not get some form of a death crit, but then the flare has to activate also.

We also are talking about a 580 thrown attack versus a 300ish defense. I am pretty sure that means I am always within the rank 5 and 6 thresholds for death crits.

I suspect it matters a whole hell of a lot if you aren't capped or near it. It may not be a capped character's toy but a lowly lord who can't hit shit except for a back or maybe a leg.

When I tested on my low level warrior, the flares counted a lot more and activated a whole lot more than 2%.

I'm sure the fact that you're death critting at cap vs. plinking away at a lower level makes a huge difference.

Bingo.

The game isn't remotely designed around capped let alone the double and I'm sure there are soon to be triple capped characters. Fact is, its the journey, not the end destination in GS.

Sure, I guess its fun to be double capped, kill everything in one shot in one of the 3 capped hunting areas and umm....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I think its an awesome toy, and I wish I could have offered them when they came out, good job getting it changed.

Sorry...

My only two thrown people are a capped paladin and a double capped rogue.

Sorry for prefacing my question with "Hey you know I don't know because I rarely miss my throws(2x ambush, 2x CM) and I have a high attack strength versus my target's defensive strength. My testing(which anyone easily extrapolated that I was capped) shows that I get flares 2% of the time."

I also said its a kickass weapon. Its why I own two bandoliers and have fixskilled into thrown on two characters. If I could afford and actually end up owning more bandoliers I would probably fixskill more into thrown.

But hey I guess doing the "journey" and actually getting to cap before thrown even existed in a usable form means that I can't be dumb and ask about a mechanic that I never would have used back when I started playing.

With the DS push down(450 melee versus 300 or high 200s ranged) from thrown/ranged I assumed(wrongly apparently) that it would be similar at lower levels.

Anyways being capped and one shot killing everything in the capped areas with a 4x weapon has to be as fun as using 2 10x weapons worth more than my entire collection, or 1030, or 519, or archery to the eye, or 616... MIRITE???!

So anyways, consider my question answered, and sorry if I pissed in someone's cheerios along the way.

I'm failing to see the post where people are pissed at you for testing something...

I was simply commenting that the 2% estimate may not be very accurate, and that I thought they flared quite often when using a lower level character.

It primarily was Paul's post.

Instead of doing what other people did, and educate me in regards to the push down and AS curve is not linear like I thought(go figure), he decided to not add anything constructive.

Instead he infers that because I am able to kill a internet creature in a one shot kill that somehow I am less of a person/player for it because the game is not designed for post cap play and that doing that is well, boring.

I am used to a little more class from Paul than that, considering he has/had more toys that make all these end game areas that much more "dumbed down" like his dual 10x throwing weapons.

And I don't think anyone is pissed at me, I think that for some reason I raised the ire of paul with the lack of knowledge of 100 levels of play with thrown weapons. I never proclaimed to be a Gemstone know-it-all and thrown weapons are new to me. But hey I won't make the same mistake twice, and I can keep my thoughts about mechanics to myself.

Edit: I guess the point is that when Paul, or anyone else for that matter, goes to sell a high end item like this they don't say "If you buy this to use in a capped hunting area...you are well..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz". and then berate someone who is double, tripple, or quadruple capped because they use it.

The joy of the internet. I hope you know I didn't infer anything about you or your style.

It was just a comment on how the game is designed and why I don't have a capped character or the desire to. Thrown is a mucked up mechanic as best, and yes, my 2 10x hammers of uber doom were nuts, but I had them on a level 44 character where he needed the AS to be successful.

You definitely did not have my ire, and I apologize completely if you felt that way.

Thanks for that Paul.

No hard feelings, and now that we hugged it out, someone post up some titties.

Yez, I do have this particular sexy bandolier. My accounts are currently closed but they'll reopen next month for EG.

Edited to add that I'm open to trades of things that I want (which there's actually not much of, but try me, I'm weak against awesome polearms) and outrageous sums of money.
