In short, Mordechai was a happy lil player killer in rats--and claimed his kills were for Marlu. The flamboyant Flamer was steadily killing people too, for no other reason than the fun of it all--the two joined forces... others joined in, liked em, and from there, the Marlu gang was born.

People who desired other aspects of the new game got sick of it (especially the afk scripters who came back to the keyboard dead, and the more defenseless ones who Marlu sometimes chased repeatedly). This continued for quite a long while, and the flavor changed some (pay or die), but finally Vanguard faction was spawned by Necen (Enough of this Nonsense thread explains). There are several threads, many, in fact. Someday, someone (probably not Someone though) will piece them all together in a crazy little quilt of personalities gone awry, and it will go down as an even more infamous drama episode of Shattered (it already is to the players who were there). Maybe you will be that historian!

It was completely won by the Vanguard having all of the bests scripters, and people with some pretty good strategies about how to spy and play the Marlu folks against each other.
