I have no idea where this came from; it's been in my locker for a few years. Is this a common item that can be bought somewhere? The loresong was strange and said something about being useful for mages and other spell casters. Anyone know?

>look hourglass
You carefully study the shard-wreathed hourglass and judge that about 35 minutes worth of sand has yet to pass through it.

Numerous grains of sand continue to trickle down through your shard-wreathed hourglass.

>turn my hourglass
You turn the shard-wreathed hourglass over.

>tap my hourglass
You tap the top of your shard-wreathed hourglass and the sand within suddenly flashes brightly with a flickering blue aura and freezes completely!

>look my hourglass
You carefully study the shard-wreathed hourglass and judge that about 60 minutes worth of sand has yet to pass through it. Additionally, you notice a flickering blue aura surrounding the sand within, completely freezing it in mid-fall.

>tap my hourglass
You tap the top of your shard-wreathed hourglass, and the sand frozen within suddenly flashes brightly with a flickering blue aura, then begins to fall once again!

Neat item. Came from the 2003 Artisan Faire.

She was asking what it did. Thanks for nothing, Drew.

First off, let's work on our reading comprehension, Ayamei.

The very first questions asked was if the item was common and where it came from, essentially. Drew's answer indicated that it was not common nor likely to be able to be purchased without buying it from another player.

So, he certainly did answer the question asked. Quite often these appraisals and requests get answered in bits and pices because not everyone knows everything there is to know about every item out there.

I gleaned this from Nilandia's Repository. I see no information beyond cost, that it tells time in 60 min. intervals and the shop it was sold in:

[A Touch of Time]

On the black marble table you see a dark-chained viridian crystal, a shard-chained pure obsidian crystal, a dark-chained violet sheened crystal, a fiery-chained intense scarlet crystal, a white-chained deep golden crystal, a thin-chained rippled silver crystal (scripted), a grey-chained black obelisk crystal and a red-chained deep black crystal.

On the glossy ebonwood table you see a small ebonwood-framed hourglass, a small ebony-chased hourglass, a small silver-swirled hourglass, a small gold-traced hourglass and a small vine-incised hourglass. (tell 30 minutes)

On the ebonwood table you see a dark-chained tiny viridian hourglass, a fiery-chained tiny scarlet hourglass, an ora-chained tiny golden hourglass, a dark-chained tiny obsidian hourglass, a shard-chained tiny bone hourglass and a thin-chained tiny mistwood hourglass. (neckworn, tell very little time)

On the ebonwood table you see a silver-chased pale mistwood hourglass, a spiral-chased sky blue hourglass, a deep black shard-wreathed hourglass, a gold-topped pure white hourglass, a flame-incised pure scarlet hourglass and a dark emerald sinuous-spired hourglass. (tell 60 minutes)

Both of you are very helpful- I suppose I actually should have titled the post "Where did this come from?" instead of "What is this" since that is relatively obvious. I wish it was wearable, cause otherwise it's gonna keep sitting in my locker with the rest of my junk.

Thanks! :-)

The merchant that sold them did alter a few to be wearable on the belt. I haven't seen any for sale in a long time.

Looks like about four for sale at fair enough prices. Neat item.

I think the neck worn ones are smaller intervals of time? I can't remember, I think I still have one somewhere.
