I left this party yesterday at 8, but apparently the cops showed up at 9 cause this guy lit off some fireworks. I always miss the good stuff. :loser:

This just in:
After I left someone referred to me as "a cutie".

Having the cops come is not a good thing, nor a fun thing.

I lived off campus sophomore year, with a buncha juniors and seniors, and we were throwing a party...Boston PD literally STORMED the house, 2 in the back entrance, 4 in the front. Damn.

Luckily, I was tending bar (because I wasn't drinking), unluckily, I was 20, and tending bar. ;)

Heh I miss the "interesting" stuff sometimes too. Both IRL and in the game.

One buddy of mine used to always say the fun train would pull in ten minutes after I left...heh.

*Off topic (Don't kill me, Diana!!) Am I the only one who thinks the fireworks laws are LAME LAME LAME???

I can see reasons for the fireworks law. But at the same time if you dont live reasonably close to anyone else or you're careful then I think they're stupid. So, I understand them...I just dont always obey them. :D

That's my point, though. Why can't they just put restrictions on them, instead of taking them away all together?

As long as you set them off in a relatively open area--and of course the age restriction (since a lot of idiots DID let children set them off and they wound up getting hurt as a result..) ..it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Oh well.

In Arizona, in Tucson, we have a mountain called "A" mountain, that burns down every year because people don't obey the fireworks laws. Desert heat and dry plants + fireworks = mountain on fire.

I think it's illegal now to buy fireworks in Michigan.

Somehow (maybe not so mysterious if you assume that they were all drunk) too many people lost fingers, hands, eyes, portions of their limbs... and most didn't have health insurance (go fig) which ended up costing the state taxpayers' $millions to reimburse the hospitals.

So, apparently to protect people from themselves, and to stop wasting money... lawmakers decided to make it illegal.

Which is a real shame, because you could almost always see some great fireworks looking over the beach at the greater family's cottage.

However, being Michigan, it seems easy enough to cross over into Ontario, buy fireworks there, and come back.

But that seems negated by how fireworks these days are terrible compared to 10 years ago. What happened to all the good ones?! Why did they become so lame, that it's a waste to buy any anyways?

At least the cities, when they put on legal fireworks shows, can still put up an impressive display.

[Edited on 5-17-2004 by DianaBanana] Like TheE said, its definitely not fun when the cops come. This one party I was at was pretty wild, male and female strippers were there and it was getting kinda out of control. I left. Later on I found out a guy there brought a gun to the party so when the cops came and were looking around they find it... party is busted up, guy gets arrested. Not fun, and Im glad I left just in time. I got to see the strippers first though

And to the person who referred to you as cute.. well, Duh. :P

Behind this guy's house he has a big parking lot area (the house is a converted store). Apparently the cops didnt break up the party they just asked that the fireworks get put away.

Fuck the cops, they can't do anything if your over 21... and you don't have any drugs on you... did you?

I didnt have any drugs on me (I never do or would) but I dunno about the rest of that crew. They're probably lucky they didnt get busted for other stuff.

Now that I think about it, there were two underage kids drinking at this party. Seriously, I dont know why he invited two highschoolers to a party that had all people over 21 at it.

What kinda party ends at 8? Sounds like it was lame. And being broken up by the cops wouldn't have made it anymore fun.

That being said I own and set off fireworks however I don't know how comfortable I'd feel if people were doing it at a party and were drunk/drinking. Bad shit can happen, so I don't really blame the cops for showing up and busting them.

...I usually don't even go out until like 10...

Is this what's in for me when I'm old? Calling it a night at 8 pm?

I didnt say the party ended at 8, I said I left at 8. I got to the barbeque at 3:00 and wanted to go home at 8 so I could watch Sopranos and Deadwood. I do have to be up for work between 6 and 6:30 ya know. :P
