Need help with a new rogue

Hi! I am new to Gemstone and I think I need help. I did my research on creating my rogue on the internet, but much of the information is old. I am having trouble hunting...I die alot with just two bites of a thrak at level 8.

I didn't know that I had 30 days to play with my stats and skills until today, and now I only have 2 days left to changing things around if I want to continue playing. Any help is much appreciated:

What kind of rogue are you trying to create? Sword and board?

Get rid of FA, Survival, and Trading. You don't need to 1x climbing and swimming.

Your agi and dex are too high. Your aura is too low.

Thanks, yes, I want to use sword and shield and pick boxes at level.

You're trying to hunt effectively, locksmith and have utility skills and you really can't be good at all three, unless maybe if you're an archer. Drop all the utility skills, and go full 2x shield. You can also afford to do only 1x in CM. You'll need thos climbing ranks (although you don't need them just yet), but you can get rid of pickpocketing, survival (unless you're in icemule), trading, magic item use and first aid and put those into combat skills. Once you gain levels and get some extra TPs you can start picking things up like climbing, arcane symbols, first aid, and spells up to 404.

As for dying, better hunting tactics will likely serve you better than switching your skills around. There's plenty of stuff that you can hunt at low levels that have no maneuevers or spells and you can just stance dance. Eventually you'll be able to hide and ambush too. In any case get blurs, guards and colors as often as you can and don't try to take on more than one monster at once. Be more patient and conservative and you'll die a lot less
