62 is kind of cold to me. But some people have naturally warmer bodies.
Keep a spray bottle next to your bed and mist yourself with it at night. That's what I do in the summer.

mist yourself? wtf?
why not sleep outside in the rain?

...because I dont like bugs, or the sidewalk really?
It gets hot here in the summer, and I can't sleep when I'm too warm. I don't like to turn the AC below 68 because the bills are outrageous, but the mist feels nice.

how can it feel nice? it's too warm, so you're sweating, then you're misting yourself getting yourself even wetter (no sick jokes folks :saint:)
How does that make sense?

Explanation - Simple Terms. My parents are fucking tools. They leave a GIANT freezer in my room, which heats my room an extra 10 or so degrees compaired to the rest of the house. They spend their time at home in next to nothing (step father is normally found wearing shorts...thats it..) and then bitch cause its too cold when the house is sitting at about 78 Degrees. Now, I'm in my room, basicly baking away at a good 88-90 degrees, so I crack my window and shit hits the fan.
62 degrees is NOT COLD.
Also note, its 10x easier for them to warm up (socks? a shirt? for god sakes, some CLOTHES! ...eww..old man chest..) then it is for me too cool off. I've already got a fan running in my room 24/7. ARG!

From August to about a week ago I as living on my own, paying my own bills, getting very little support from my mother. About 90% of my college will be paid by me (living expenses included) and I also bought my own vehicle in February with my own money and make the payments.
Also, I'm managing two jobs this summer, including an internship at NASA.
Don't even try to compare your life to mine and negate my argument with bullshit responses, please.

Actually, education loans are a bitch, Jake has about 20k of them that we're currently paying back. They're not a bad idea at the time, though. They're not like a credit card.
You two are both doing your own thing your own way. Settle down, ai dios mio.

Way to be dumb, Gid.
I didn't say my life was hard, I said it was incomperable to yours. Whether I pay it now or later, I still pay it. And I'm still going to school, I'm still supporting myself, and I'm still not having to bitch about living with my parents when I'm 25 years old.
You can't win this. Any way you look at it, you are the only one at fault in any situation involving your parents inconveniencing you. They aren't responsible for you anymore and you aren't trapped there. Get your own life if it's so horrible there.
And I have over 20k from my first year. Mine will most certainly be a bitch, thanks.

Lord liftin' Jesus, reading that was like watching a few kids screeching "poopyhead!" at each other in a sandbox.
I think I have the solution.
Just live with uh, you know, one of the off campus apartments with that guy, with um, you know, the kind of long hair who plays the guitar or something?
Anyway, as far as temperature goes, do you have central AC or room AC? Cause if it's room AC, just close the door and crank that shit. If not, then um... squatting on an off-campus apartment is beckoning you.

I lived by myself and worked 3 jobs in college, with no help from family at all. If you want to, anyone can move out. It's all about choices right? Living at home has to have SOME benefit, even if you are paying rent, otherwise, you'd be stupid to do so... right?

Let's behave, folks.
For some people, it's simply in their best interest for whatever reason to live with their parents for the time being. Just because you worked 3 million hours and took 400 credits in school, while certainly admireable and deserving of props--doesn't mean that's the road everyone else should/needs to take.
It's also not cool to come down on someone for wanting to do it all on their own or as independant as possible. Just because they're going what you'd consider "the rough route" doesn't mean they're retarded and you're uber smart for doing it your way.
Until you actually walk a mile in the other person's shoes or at the least are completely aware of their situation and reasons for doing what they do...you really have no room to "judge." So please let's stop it. All parties involved here are better than that. I know this.

1) Why does a freezer in the room, make it hotter? When I was at UofMichigan, with a small freezer in the room, it made my room colder...
2) Tell your parents to put some clothes on. Don't tell us that your parents should Be a man, and speak up.
3) 62 degrees is cold enough to be needing to be fully clothed. Jacket/sweater shouldn't be needed until it's the 50s.

I keep my house at 68. It keeps me, my girl, and my dog plenty cool. And the dog is pretty big and has lots of hair, so she enjoys the cool air. My girl is always cold, but I like it at about 68.
What floor is your room on? And WTF, can you put the freezer in another room and just take your ass over there when you need to?
Edited to clarify, bastard.

1) Why does a freezer in the room, make it hotter? When I was at UofMichigan, with a small freezer in the room, it made my room colder...
Simple mechanics. The metal around the cooling unit tends to get hot (there is a moter in there). The side of said freezer is fairly warm, 24/7. This acts just as a normal heater would. It warms the room.
2) Tell your parents to put some clothes on. Don't tell us that your parents should Be a man, and speak up.
Oh trust me, I have. Many, many times.
3) 62 degrees is cold enough to be needing to be fully clothed. Jacket/sweater shouldn't be needed until it's the 50s.
Agreed, for most people. I personally find 60-65 degrees to be comfortable myself. And I can understand that is cold for others. But when they keep the house at 78-80 degrees, and my room is hovering right around 90 degrees..it gets a bit much.
What floor is your room on? And WTF, can you put the freezer in another room and just take your ass over there when you need to?
First floor of the apparments. And no, not really. See, The room I'm staying in now was the "storage" room untill I had to move back in.
I've tried to talk my parents into moving the freezer a few times. It would give me a lot of extra space, so I could actually put in a computer desk (I currently lie on bed, with my monitor sitting atop a small dresser next to said bed), and it would solve a great deal of my sleeping problems. But the only other room it could go into is the stepfathers "workshop" where he stores all his bottles and gems, and as it is he freaks out if we go in there for anything else (he is like uber protective over his bottles.) for any reason.
I started this thread to rant, since it was 10pm at night, and I was basicly alone, no one to rant too. I figured other people get threads to rant, I should be able to as well. I figured some people would "bust on me" because of my situtation, but hey, they don't live my life, and they have NO clue on the matters and reasons for where I'm at. My ranting is done now. I feeling better about it all. ::shrugs:: end o rant.
