I got bored, so I wanted to see if I could live through another scales trap. If you see me die in the next 5 minutes, you know why.

Ok, it opened.

Suddenly, an enruned thanot trunk gives off a loud sizzle, and explodes in a bright flash!

The trunk's casing is blasted into hundreds of tiny flechettes!

Attack punctures the eye and connects with something really vital!

The buzz of thoughts in your mind subsides.

Ouch. The one time I set off a scales trap, it did a total of 24 damage, with a bleeder to my chest. 4 for the explosion, 20 from the scales.

Last trap I set off did 170 damage, 5 off the initial and 165 from the splash.

I lived this time. I guess a -390 is outta range for me.

t to disarm it...

You carefully open the lid of the iron strongbox the tiniest bit, and peer inside. To one side of the locking mechanism, you can see what appears to be a thin cord connecting the lid to something within the strongbox itself.

You feel like you've made a miserable attempt.

Carefully, you slide your dagger into the crack and attempt to slice through the cord, but you only manage to push it to one side, apparently freeing one end of it in the process.
