I'm going to go the route of a big stick swinger and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of which could be the better all around bard for a race. I'm leaning to gnome for a rping choice, but my rping is also weak at best so it doesn't set me in stone (incidentally, RP teachers, a student is waiting in the wings!). I know halflings have that lovely bolting advantage, but I'm not sure if that translates alot into bolting defense. Their swing time is pretty fabulous as well.
Never rolled a burghal gnome, have a forest one and they seem to be decent casters, but I'm also rolled high for casting and a pure so it doesn't really help. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I think the gnomes are less dramatic in their + and - stats versus halflings. I'm rambling at this point, any insight would be helpful.
I guess my biggest worries are for my CS and AS. I still no little about bards but they seem like a unique skill class worth examining in depth. Plus sonic stuff seems cool.
Thanks!

For the love of all things awesome, do not play a burghal gnome bard.

LOL any specific reason, or just a healthy hatred of burghals? One of there cultures has a nice rping aspect I wouldn't mind testing, but like my first post, I suck at rping.

Go erithian. They are underplayed and would make a decent enough bard.

duly noted, what the heck is an erithian? I came back to the game after all the changes and have yet to really explore any races outside the classics and for some reason gnomes. The others scare and bewilder me.

Burghals can't hold shit, even with sonic armor wearing only a 3 lb bag, and 6 lb backpack (that holds coins weightlessly!), 1 box will put you past your first encumbrance threshold or worse. Additionally, you have to prone medium or larger targets to hit them in the head if you wanted to crush skulls / stab eyes. They've got other things going for them but when I was playing, I would have paid a shitload for a fixrace.
Elves are a pretty standard race with high INF and AUR. Erithrians are very well suited for bards. If you ever get up to level 75, a Giantman Tonis Archer can be incredibly efficient.

I can scrap my modest rping idea to the wayside, and have a more viable character and can work in some of the rp after the fact. When I get home I'll do some looking at the erithians, whatever the heck a half-krolvin is, elves, and even if i must humans. (might examine dark-elf and dwarf too...dwarfs grunt functions make me squeal like a schoolgirl inside *Gay alert*)
Danical is just afraid you'll overtake him as the top Burghal Gnome bard.

I'd be the first to congratulate him if he does!

I'll leave him the trophy and venture to another race, perhaps slyvan / dark / or dwarf. Do the dhe-nar still use their dwarf slaves? I wouldn't mind being a slave these days.

The official docs said the lines between master (Dhe-nar) and slave (Khasnell? or whatever) have been blurred over time. In current Elanthia, it seems to be more a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship, but you know, w/e

They aren't slaves, but yes, Khanshael are an integral part of dhe'nar society.
