I put this up on Simu's forums, but I have a feeling I'd get a faster response here soooo... here we go!

"Ok, so this is me trying to get rolling uh.. 5th time now or something? So! Hello!
I'm Quiz.. a soon-to-be rogue. What race yet? Dunno, but that's more of a discussion for the RP stuffs! (Either way, either full elf, half-elf or sylvan ... maaaybe Burghal gnome). I've got my spreadsheet, though not filled out yet, and know enough of the basics to know terms and whatnot.

My concerns:
1. I've always ALWAYS been horrible about what to train when. I'm too organized when it comes to 1.5x or 2x and the like and I feel like I need to train everything at that specific moment.
2. Due to the above, I don't know when to pick up the 4 spells or so I'll be getting for locksmithing.
3. I want to pick for a living. I'll hunt too, but I don't plan on going out hunting warcamps or going off on my own. If I hunt it'll likely be with a friend -- once I make friends, and once I can rely on picking for my alone time.
4. I'm a complete disaster when it comes to managing TPs, an extension of #1.

What I know:
1. When I hunt, I'll ambush, two-weapon edged with a smattering of CMANs of course.
2. My bread and butter will indeed be locksmithing.

What I don't know or would like to know:
1. How to train before I can pick full time, and how to reallocate TO pick full time once I reach the level threshold required.
2. Spells, when to get lock lore.
3. Stat growth. I'll EVENTUALLY get to cap, but seeing as I'm a leisurely player it won't be any time soon -- I expect having a couple, if not a few, FIXSKILLS before I even get close. Wait, now I forget if fixskills only changes skill levels, or stats too.

I kinda feel silly asking all this stuff, since it's apparently stuff that's supposed to be out there but I'm just not grasping it. It's not clicking in my brain and I get frustrated when I hit a wall of being really unable to do stuff at my level (hunting kobolds/thyrils/cave gnomes at level 6? Pathetic.) but I'm at the end of my rope here.

Anyway, sorry if I sound clueless/like a whiner or whatnot, thanks for the time for reading the wall o' text."

Also, what with my whole thread on the RP board I'm also considering cleric cause I dig Voaris, buuut, it's either rescuing cleric or picking rogue!

If you want to be good at TWC consider giving up lock picking.
I'm sure there are some out there who manage to do both and perhaps they will have sound advice on placement.

Well the combat thing is very negotiable, since I want to pick. I had simply assumed that two-weps are the way to go with rogues.. or, well not shields, right? Cause I mean that's what super dodge is for?

I might end up going cleric anyway.. kinda fits the character a little more as a Voaris cleric. I suppose I'll have a picker alt someday!

I'd say go OHE, shields, hiding, and ambushing if you want to have enough points left to pick. TWC is going to be painful if you plan to be a solid picker.

I'd recommend being a Laethe cleric. That way you can RP a catholic priest.

If you want to pick, you could do it with TWC, only issue is you'd have to 1x CM which can be slightly sad. And with that, you'd only be able to fit in 2x pick and disarm which is fine up until you get older.

PS: Burghal Gnomes are awesome, but in the end will get you discouraged when playing a rogue one.

Laethe appeals to me more on a personal level in a way, but that love can never be regained just.. no. :P

Aaalso, decided to go with the cleric for the arrpees. So um, thanks for the help but sorry. XD

If I was a rogue, I wouldn't ever play a race that couldn't hit the head/neck/eyes of a medium sized creature. That eliminates halflings and gnomes. Dwarves too?

Yeah, it was easy to do with Widgets PURELY since I had a speed crossbow.

Just FWIW, Dwarves can hit orc heads and eyes no problem. In Shattered I lived off orc camps with my dwarven dagger-wielding ambusher.

Coupled with the TD bonuses, dwarves are pretty sexy rogues.

My former dwarf rogue was able to hit necks in OTF.

I was using a 8x MCW falchion at the time so I was just open aiming necks. I don't think he could hit head or eyes, but I could be wrong.
