Just saw it, really enjoyed it!
Anyone else catch it today?

I'm burnt out on the sheer number of comic book to movie adaptations. Hollywood has smelled the cash flow and is in full throttle churn em out mode. Probably just wait for it to hit dvd.

It was good but I don't know some of the characters they used.
Diamonds? What was the name of the "bad guy"? I don't remember him.

Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost (diamonds). They are two of the main X-men villains.

Ok, on the good guys side, the cyclops-like guy?
I watched the cartoon version on fox religiously as a kid but I don't remember seeing him either.

Havoc.
I thought the premise of the movie was excellent but it did not live up to expectations.
I was also dissapointed because the trailer made the claim that it was "the best comic movie since The Dark Knight." That set the bar a little high.
I do love Magneto.

There will never be a comic book movie as good as The Dark Knight. I knew that was a lie when I saw the trailer.

I thought Emma Frost was Carrie Underwood for a minute. She was hot.
As I've said, this is the best X-Men movie they've made yet. I'm not just saying that either just cause James McAvoy is in it, but damn he's smoking.

There was a lot of really distracting eye-candy in that movie, both of the male and female persuasion. It was a great movie though.
Anyone else think that the young Xavier was a few crooked teeth away from being Austin Powers?

Yeah he was really Austin-ish.
It was an entertaining movie, and the cameo spots made me laugh. No way its better than Dark Knight.
Definitely not better than the Dark Knight but better than any previous X-Men movie. Probably of greater interest to those of us that read the comics than didn't because the cartoon-only people will not recognize half the characters or their relation to characters already introduced.
They made a lot of shit up. But they did it much better than the other movies. IMO, anyway.
I thought Xmen 2 was better, but this was very good!

Always liked the stuff with the Hellfire Club that Emma Frost was a part of in the comic books. Sounds like this X-Men movie is better then some of the previous.

It was alright, but I wasn't too thrilled with it. Maybe it's the getting-old-fast prequel bullshit, I dunno.

My friends and I really enjoyed it. Magneto was bad ass. Nice cameo in it too. It may be one of my favorite X-men yet.

So, saw this last night. Glad to see the black guy died first. How fucking typical.
P.S. was the Beast storyline (how he turned blue) from the comic books? Because I don't remember that at all.
I can't think of a movie where the black guy dies before a white guy..

I went into it expecting complete and utter shit. I was surprised at how good it was. It doesn't come close to Dark Knight or Batman Begins even. It was light years ahead of any of the other X titles/Wolverine.
I'm not sure how I rank it against Iron Man yet.
The Ultimates version of Beast turned him monster and blue from Weapon X capture and enchancement. I'm fairly certain in the normal universe, his blue fur is due to his mutation continually evolving. In recent years he's turned even more feral and animalistic.
When I saw the roster for this movie, I was kinda surprised at how many C-list mutants they were dragging in. That they killed off Darwin so early was hilarious and awful. I think they've thrown his ass into space and he survived so having Shaw just insta-gib him is some bullshit.
I've been reading comics for so long, I was so confused at not being able to recognize so many. Like seriously, Azazel is supposed to be Nightcrawler's father. I thought they were just fucking with people turning Angel (Warren Worthington) or the Wasp into a stripper chick.

LOLWUT I knew I didn't recognize Angel as a racially ambiguous female stripper.

Yeah when I saw people getting up and leaving during the credits and NO ONE stayed, I knew something was up so we didn't either. I know for Iron Man hardly anyone moved until the lights came on.

It's not a Marvel movie, it's one of the older one (like Fantastic 4 and Spiderman) where they licensed the rights away.

I have no idea why they picked THIS Angel to put in the movie. So random. There's two characters named Angel. This was the other one - Angel Salvadore. She was introduced by Grant Morrison about 10 years ago.
And yeah... in normal continuity, Beast did turn blue and furry due to injecting himself with a serum of his own creation. The "secondary mutiation" that turned him more cat-like rather than ape-like came later. Secondary mutations was also a bit of Grant Morrison weirdness. (This is also where Emma's diamond form hails from.) Apparently the writers of this movie just liked the Morrison run.
