If you’ve ever wanted the chance to design your perfect home-away-from-home, now you have it! Join the House of Paupers at their Ta’Illistim annex in The Lost Home on Feastday, 4 Lumnea (Saturday, June 4), at 9 P.M. Elven to receive your annex design assignment to work on either alone or as part of a team with up to 2 of your friends (each team may have a maximum of 3 people). After a set time, you will then be asked to present your design to the House of Paupers Board for judging. The individual or team with the highest score--which includes points for your presentation, because we like to be entertained!--will receive a special prize, and everyone will receive a token of appreciation for participating.

The House of Paupers Board will be taking notes of all designs presented during this event, and you just might see part of your design in the House of Paupers Ta’Illistim annex, set to be renovated by the end of this year. So come on out and show us what you really want!

------------------------------------------------------

Yup, Paupers is renovating its annex in Ta'Illistim! There is NO guarantee that any ideas presented at this event will be used in the final renovation...but there's no guarantee they won't! In fact, bits of presentations from this event will almost certainly find their way into the final design.

Make sure you're there at 9pm ET (6pm PT) SHARP to receive your detailed assignment! And bring your friends! (You do not have to be a member of Paupers to participate.)

I know there's been at least one request to see the designs that were presented. They're posted on the Officials (http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Cooperative%20Houses%20of%20Elanthia%20%28CHE%60Gr eat%20Houses%29/House%20of%20Paupers/view/109). But because some of ya'll are lazy... I'll post them here, too, anyway.

From Gweneivia:
Entrance from the street: a shaded doorway
[Wax Museum]
The dimly lit room seems dusty and cool, all manner of wax mannequins staring, their glassy eyes seeming to follow your every movement. Some seem to be organized into a display, others seem to be randomly placed wherever they would fit. One huge replica of a stalking lion stands on a circular platform in the middle of the room, its mouth open wide in a permanant roar as though challenging all who enter.
>push plate {assumed to be on the platform somewhere?}
The circular platform turns and rises as boards slide back from the ceiling, revealing a staircase. {Leads to locker access. Messaging about hurrying off the staircase before it recesses.}
[Pauper's Annex, Retreat]
Windows surround this cupola, warm light streaming in to illuminate every area. A sagging and faded blue sofa rests invitingly near several deeply cushioned armchairs. One table seems positioned perfectly to rest your feet on as you relax, several stacks of books resting along the top.
You also see a velvet curtain, a wastebin, and a small ladder leading out a window.
{Refreshments on the table, ladder goes back to the street.}

From the group of Auratik, Tykeara, Rizel:
Design from Auratik, Tykeara, Rizel
Entrance from street: a large barrel shaped building with several clear glass windows and a single double door hinged by polished mithglin brackets
[The Flagrant Pauper]
This spacious tavern features an intricately hand carved oak bar featuring two mirrored back shelves that hold a full complement of local and imported liquors. The counter area of each bar is fashioned from highly lacquered mahogany planks, darkened to a glossy finish. In the rafters a large stuffed war griffin, it’s wings gloriously spread, appears to be swooping down on those who enter. Across the creaking dark ale stained floor lays an arch, a brass sign proclaims it to be way to “The Loo” and a carved haon keep figurine is displayed on an elevated pedestal next to a wall-mounted dartboard where the wall has ben written on with phrases and signatures of those who have visited. Several tables, stools and couches provide places for the patrons to gather and relax.
Obvious exit: out
{“The Loo” arch leads to the lockers.}

Log of Queti's presentation, for the amusement factor:

Queti sheepishly exclaims, "Okay, so QT didn't really do what the other people did. He has more of a conceptual, winged, not well fleshed out plan!"

Queti recites:

"Imagine if you will. Okay. Was it good? Not as good as what QT's about to bring to your face!"

Queti recites:

"Okay. Okay. Look. So what we need as drunkards is company, because without company ..."

Queti points at Auratik.

Queti exclaims, "You drink too much!"
s>
Queti points at Dayko.
s>
Queti exclaims, "You fall asleep in dangerous places!"
s>
Auratik laughs!
s>
Queti points at Marni!
s>
Zenaxa leans softly against Leaena.
s>
Auratik picks up a dark bottle of Dreadnaught beer.
s>
Queti exclaims, "You find yourself married to somebody like QT!"

Queti cowers.
s>

Queti recites:

"Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but because Ta'Illistim is so far from the Landing, so what QT thinks is that the new Annex should be "a bustling well-lit tavern" that is open to normal residents (not adventurers, they should join if they want in!) of Ta'Illistim as well so that it's nice and full!"

s>
Queti recites:

"It won't be a very imposing structure, maybe one or two stories, with swinging doors! And flowers next to the doors to draw the ladies! And ladies to draw the men! It will be laid back like Paupers, and it will draw attention because this town's too fancy. We'll draw all the travelling merchants and bards and ladies of the nig ... pretty ladies!"

s>
Queti recites:

"Inside the main attraction will be an impressively stocked "long mahogany bar" with a pretty bartender, because pretty bartenders are pretty, and they deserve jobs more than ugly ones."

Queti recites:

"Also men are more likely to spend silver when there's a pretty woman at the other end of the tap."

Queti recites:

"Also there's a chance that the bartender will be grateful to QT for getting her this job and she'll have a date with him!"

Queti recites:

"Oh, right. So the bar will be big like all bars, because you tall people don't like bending over. But there better be tall chairs because gnomes don't like hopping every time they want to order a beer!"

Queti recites:

"Plus, how is QT going to stare dreamily into the bartender's eyes if he can't see over the counter! That's just silliness. Moving on."

Queti recites:

"=add Oh, and over the bar, will be "an alabaster diving falcon", swooping wobbily towards "an artistically stacked set of ale barrels". People will look at the barrels and be able to argue for hours about whether it looks like happiness or riches. And only we will know the secret that no one wants to touch them anymore because they're afraid it will tumble down onto them! Underneath the falcon will be the words "Paupers members always dive headfirst into fun, no matter how drunk!""

Queti recites:

"There will be an assortment of wooden tables of varying heights! Varying heights! You can have your big tables, but there should be some gnome sized ones! At least one! And QT wants his initials carved in it!"

Queti recites:

"QT. On "a gnome-sized wooden table". Yeah."

Queti recites:

"Oh, and this is Paupers, so some members are bound to drink a little too much by accident."

Queti recites:

"Afterall the difference between comfortably drunk and uncomfortably drunk is indiscernable while you're in the midst of drinking!"

Queti recites:

"Therefore there should be one or two "large comfortable sleeping cot"s set up in a corner of the room, preferably on the side opposite the dart board!"

Queti recites:

"Now in a bar, one of the most important things are the bathrooms! And in an annex, one of the most important things is the lockers! So because QT's a genius, he thinks we should combine the two!"

Queti recites:

"There can be a restroom door marked "Ladies", and restroom marked "Gentlemen", and "a restroom door marked "Lockers!"". Order doesn't matter, but make sure the signs are big, clearly written, and unable to be switched!"

Queti recites:

"Because otherwise QT might be tempted to alter or switch them around! And nobody would want something like that!"

Queti recites:

"The lockers will be kept in rooms that look suspiciously like bathroom stalls to cut down on costs! Just think! Architects will charge less if they have to build the same thing thrice than three different things!"

Queti recites:

"The end!"

I love it, Queti is so creative (though as I told him, it's usually smut)!
