So... at level 45, I just fixskilled to a sniper build, and am 3x in hiding. Even still, I get pulled out of hiding when I shoot, probably... 40% of the time? Is this normal? What sort of things can I do to mitigate this?

Age will effect this, along with critters you hunt and so forth.

You'll find that as your training gets a bit higher, you won't be pulled out more as you do now.

Sniping really comes into good play around 50+ I'd say, and of course in Grim camps it's a bit of a pain to do also. I tend to think the amount of creatures in one room also affect you getting pulled too, since it could account for your stealth action formula, but who knows!

What armor are you wearing? Do you have the armor stealth buff rogues give? Do you have shadow mastery running? What are you hunting? And if you know, what kind of terrain are you in?

If you have trouble with hiding, ask a ranger to cast colors on you. You really should not have any trouble hiding and sniping if you are 3x trained in it and have shadow mastery up, unless you are hunting undead or some kind of wild perceptive critter.

I don't think being in a mob makes it any easier or harder for you to snipe. More critters in the room means more of them searching for you, so there is a better chance they will find you, unpresence can help with remaining hidden when something tries to search for you.

Also, cman dirt kick is amazing, I don't use it on my ranger, she doesn't really need it. With my rogue(although she doesn't snipe) I use it all the time.

Good points so far, mostly covered all of it. If your overhunting or hunting undead or animals, it can be tougher. 5 ranks of Armored Stealth in robes and 3x hiding keeps me in stealth over 90% against war griffins, which are considered very perceptive. Using shadow mastery actually doesn't improve my percentage much, if at all. I have a feeling there is a chance (somewhere between 5% and 10%?) that can't be removed.

And if none of that quite does it, use unpresence, darkness, or spirit fog, all of which help you stay hidden.

First, thanks all for the input.

I'm hunting in augmented chain at the moment, with 2 ranks of armored stealth. I'm having a little bit better luck just being very picky, and only picking off Grimswarm when there's one or two in the room.

I'm sure I'd have better luck against other critters with a little less perception, and that actually STAYED stunned... but for now this is my lot in life. I'm going to keep working on armor training so I can get the full benefit of armored stealth, and just be a bit more careful in general.

Now if I can figure out how to handle the 'which of these arrow bundles is still e-bladed' whilst bundling fallen arrows in the middle of a warcamp, I'll be golden.
