I've realized how silly it is for me to be using points for pickpocketing when I could turn into a kickass cman using polearm swinger. Can anyone give me some helpful hints on where to be placing my pickpocketing points and any others I might be actually wasting on skills I don't need?

I swing 243 with all my signs on.

1x dodge, lose some perception, ditch the PP, and get more CM. Not sure if your lore training is quality or not, someone else might be more knowledgable

Your swing suffers from that training but your race doesn't help that either. You don't need to hit like a ton of bricks using a lance. Now if you're using a Naginata well AS helps but lances do good damage. Personally I like the look of the 2x pickpocketing just because you don't expect a bard to have it. The only downside is your CM hurts from it.

2x pp with no hide is weak unless your a wizard who is invisible

If you were trained in MOC and Polearms, could you use spears in both hands and mstrike?

TheEschaton

You would need TWC for that, SHM.

And a polearming bard, without Charge, is pretty weak. Ask Chad.

sorry, I meant TWC. So it IS feasable... I could put a spear (one handed) in each hand and mstrike with them?

Reason I ask, is that I have two glaes damage weighted spears, am curious how a focused strike would go.

TheEschaton

Well, your RT would be ridiculous.

TWC with polearms to begin with would probably be at least 8-9 seconds on a regular swing.

One unfocused MStrike would be 4 swings, you're already approaching 20 seconds. Maybe it's worth it, I dunno, because you're gonna kill things on the first hit...who knows.

Bullshit. I played a polearm bard prior to charge and he was a beast.

You can't use any pole arm (one or two handed, obviously) with TWC.

Dang, blows that idea then. Thanks SP

Yeah, the pickpocketing is nice because I rarely get caught unless I'm stealing from a rogue, and nobody expects a bard to steal. However, while its a nice thing to do while I'm bored, I think it would be more beneficial to put it into lores and CM. Would Multi-oponent be a good idea too? And I do have my lores in telepathy because the only sonics I use is armor. If i increased my air lore would it soften the blows it takes when I'm struck? Or is that only against magical attacks that that applies to?

I can already see it now, she'll fix skills on the 20th and then on the 21st she'll start migrating into something else like an archer or a ambusher or some various other random skill set because she got bored.

Hey Jackass....I didn't move my polearms when I thought I wanted to do ranged. And this is a matter between stealing and CM so it's not something that crucial.

I just noticed this. What would be something I would be more inclined to use race-wise? A bow? And is that even a good idea? I know there are bow-using bards but does using one proved a good defense and attack?

You can still be a fine bard as a sylvan using poles. Don't let your race choice deter you from the way you want your character.

Bow wielding bards are uber, especially once you get Song of Tonis.

Jesae, what you do is lose the pickpocket, all of it. Go get locksmiths to crack them for you. Get 5 ranks of MOC so you get to pop a couple guys right off. Put all the rest into CM and work on sweep or hamstring. It kicks ass and you don't have to use 1005 nearly as much.

Race doesn't really matter for a swinging bard. Bards get such nice AS bonus boosting spells that the race modifier is negligible, not to mention that the high dex bonus for a polearm user is nice for Roundtime.

My sylvan polearm using bard was trained pretty much trained likes this: 2x Polearm, 1x Dodge, 1x HP, 24 ranks EMC, 1x PT, 1x Spells and at least 1x CM with the goal being to be 2x CM (and some ranks of climbing, swimming, trading, etc).
I dropped lores since I trained up to 1010 then went for 425 and 430 to maximize AS.

I'm not sure what this is even supposed to mean? I think you might mean no one suspects a bard.

Person says, "I expect to stolen from within the next minute, please!"

Person says, "No Bards! k thx"

Anyway, drop the PP get some CM and learn Charge.

Charge is overrated. While it is very nice, a polearming bard is far from weak.

Chadj swings a 0 lb 7x lance at 5rt that flares a whole shit load (I cant remember the stats that i figured right now.. but i posted em elsewhere. I think it is something like, doing flares 80% of the time and averaging 25 damage per flare). Anyways, just because a polearming bard doesnt charge doesn't make it weak at all.. But charge does make ya a little bit more powerful :)

However, having good stats for a polearming bard is essential.. you can't really make any errors in it if you want to have a decent bard. I will send you an IM later on, Jesae, if you want some help with it. I know my fair share about bards ;).

Aww leave Fengus alone. He's always like this. I keep telling him if he didn't let his pink lace panties to ride so far up his ass he wouldn't be so bitter all the time, but he never listens!
