View Full Version : I wish you luck...

Maybe I'm feeling sentimental, what with Vajpayee's concession speech, and the last episode of Frasier, but I thought the last episode of Frasier tonight was beautiful, almost a work of art. Forget Friends, forget all that hype - this one was much more.....well, it was much more.
The poem that he used to end it...amazing. I googled it cause I liked it so much....
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
...
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Frasier ended? That show was halfway decent.

Yes, and it was very sad. I almost cried. And I don't cry for TV shows. Ever.
The ending was very abrupt....Frasier just telling someone, last line, "Wish me luck..."
The first half of the episode was all the tying up of loose ends - the last half was a soliloquy of epic proportions, on taking risks, and starting over. It was perhaps the exact sentiments one feels when one is ending something important in one's life, not knowing what the future holds, and being in a state of excited fear about that future.
As for the season finale of ER, that sucked. Way to leave me hanging for two years, assholes.

So it was the series ending of frasier or the season? oh and what happened

Series ending. Okay, here goes:
Frazier said goodbye to his love interest who was moving to Chicago. Marty and his girl got married. Niles and Daphne had their baby in a vetrinarian clinic. Bebe is still evil. Roz got the job managing the radio station. Frazier accepted a TV job in San Francisco. Everyone thought he was dying for some reason I have not quite worked out because I was on the phone for that part. But apparently it was just a misunderstanding. Anyhoo, at the end he is on a plane talking to his seatmate about taking chances etc. The pilot comes on the horn and says they have landed....in Chicago.
I would like to point out that I waited to post that until 1 a.m. in the morning Pacific time so that people in Hawaii wouldn't hate me. I don't know what the time difference is but figured 4 hours was a safe bet.

He was giving away a bunch of his sentimental stuff, and then there was a message from the plastic surgeon he went to saying that he was sorry that his results had turned out so bad, and that he would do anything to help him..:snicker: So they all started bawling thinking he was dying.
I thought it was a great finale..and it leaves things open for them too.:)

Edited to add: I am sad the show is ending, it's one of the smarter comedies on television. We are being smothered in "Reality" television and junk lately, which frankly I'm sick of.

The series finale of Angel, on the other hand, is sure to suck. :grr:
And what do you mean, poem? That thing didn't even rhyme. Psh.

Angel's sucked most of the season, and for 55 minutes last Wednesday I wasn't even sure I'd bother with the finale.
Anyone wanna take a bet on when Angel jumped the shark?

....they're not doing a new ER for two years?
What happened on the season finale? I was at work.

No, I won't be able to watch ER for two years.
Mekhi Pfifer or however you spell his name, Ming Na, and the heavy black kid they saved a few weeks ago (Elgin?) are driving back to Elgin's place (he was discharged and needed a ride home). Mekhi pauses a little too long at a light when it turns green, the car behind starts honking, and he goes. Car pulls up alongside, angry white guy says "Why don't you pay more attention?".....Mekhi tells him, "whatever, man, just get outta here" and rolls up his window. Stupid fat black kids gives him the finger, Mekhi speeds away. Later on, slows down, car pulls up again, guy frickin' pulls a gun, and starts shooting. Fade to black, Ming Na screams, THAT'S THE END.
Fuckers.

Anyway, TNT has been showing Angel reruns, and it's unbelievable how much better earlier seasons are. Angel (the character) is so different (better). I don't know how to describe it. It's like he's a painting and he's all encrusted with grime this season but the old seasons show him clean.

You are correct. That was the worst episode ever. Although it was amusing to see Angel riding a moped behind Spike.
I read somewhere that the budget for Angel was slashed in half for this season or something like that anyway. If true, that might account for the downhill slide. Quality has definitely suffered. But I will, without a doubt, be taping the last episode. I have high hopes for it.
