This week marks the one year anniversary of Shattered. Although this forum is fraught with opinions on many things, from both subscribers and non, maybe potential players would benefit from hearing your experience after a year of live gaming.

Scripts are useful tools and I'm not criticizing anyone who uses them (my best in game pals were the best scripters in GS) however, if that's all you do then scripting isn't exactly playing.

I'm back in Prime. I hung out for a few after the Vanguard/Marlu war, hit 9m exp, stopped playing, and eventually canceled my Shattered subscription.

Went back to Prime. Had to miss a few months of GS, and when I got back into it, everyone had capped, and I was sitting at level 41. Meant zero chance for any kind of interaction beyond "I died, come and get me", so I gave it up.

Went to RIFT and when that sucked I quit playing anything. I think GS is that first love for many individuals. I'll likely try the game again when monks come out, so basically never.

Then again, this game is an addiction and many people relapse. My characters are sitting on lots of treasure and it would be fun to play with my toys again. Who knows.

I never played WoW and have no intention to do so. The PvP in RIFT sucks and the PvE is too repetitive. It will be nice when gaming companies move away from the repetitive character advancement models. Even GS is like that; however, the scripting in Shattered bypasses a lot of it.

Maybe it's a good thing because if Simutronics ever made a GS graphic version with an actual competent and talented team, they would enslave the human race.

I played and left, but am certain I'll be back once I become disenchanted with Aion, which is already in progress. Like most graphic games, my characters reach a plateau--usually when experience becomes so much slower and it's more difficult to solo for some classes.

If it were $5 as Spiffy and others noted, I would have left it on if only for lurking and talking on lnet. Lnet is really the primary interaction for me in either prime or shattered anymore, and I do enjoy that a lot (it reminds me of the old amulet before they divided it into colors/functions, which seemed a precursor to it becoming obsolete), but feel it would be preferable to split the cost between the archaic game and the developer and provider of Lich for players.

In any case, I'm happy to see people posting their thoughts. Even if there are only 20 people, maybe the "powers that be" will find some comments of import here.

Oh, and I still love the PC! I'd hate to reactivate the game and then try to catch up on drama, personalities, and comings and goings.

Yea, if you come back just post here or let us know on lnet and we can hook you up with whatever you need. I think WL and Teras are the places to be these days, fully automated raise clerics that do rescues, empaths, and mages are working and spelling up 24/7.

I would never have gone to shattered if prime allowed afk scripting, but I don't see that ever happening, it would break balance and people would shit blood and their heads would spin around like Linda Blair in the Exorcist, dogs and cats living together, mass chaos!!!

Yeah, if they let me script in Prime I would reactivate Durfin, but that is never going to happen. Can't stand the post-cap grind for TP's, and capping skills that a warrior really should never try to cap (spells) is the only thing that I had left to do with him.

$20 for premium and $10 for normal shattered would be pretty fair imo. I'd probably start back up 2 or 3 accounts. As others have said its mainly just about character creation/advancement for me, and dicking around on lnet. I don't have time for Prime like I did back in the 90s, but it's still fun for me to tweak scripts and watch my guys advance. $20 just not worth it though.

I'd definitely go to prime if they allowed scripting. As long as the scripting didn't affect others Arpee.

The only thing I miss in Prime is the economy and that's it.

I originally fell in love with GS for the roleplaying, but when I returned years later its primary draw was mechanics development. My expectations - set by MMO's which were winding up - were not likely to be met by a MUD winding down. And they weren't.

Shattered could have been much more than a 'set it and forget it' instance. It's too bad they chose to go that route.
