In regards to cman disarm, in terms of defense capabilities of it for places like Nelemar....

Would it rather make sense to replace disarm, with say cman cunning defense, since it would aid against all other manuvers aside from disarm, like charge, trip etc?

I'm tossing up/working over my cmans now and disarm is one I was curious about as to whether or not instead of that, cdefense would be as feasible in it's replacement.

I am just curious as to whether or not, if replacing disarm for cdefense would be a better option, since I'd gain a +15 bonus across the boards for other manuevers, although +15 bonus doesn't sound like much in comparison to a stronger defense against disarms.

Any pointers?

5 ranks in Cdefense = The same defense as if you had 1 rank in Disarm. So, not a ton.

But, with 5 ranks Disarm + 5 ranks Cdefense you'd have the equivalent of 6 ranks Disarm in cman defenses. In terms of defending against disarm, that's the best you can get for any profession. Though, there are still fluke open rolls that can screw anyone.

You'd also have that phantom 1 rank in defense for every cman out there due to cdefense which doesn't stop cmans, but does help mitigate the higher rolls to some degree.

Yeah, I'm just trying to work around my cman list into what I would like to have.

With that being said, in lamens terms how you explained it all to me, I think I'll keep disarm at 5 ranks and not bother with cdefense since it doesn't affect much apparently

Well, not the best you can get for any profession.. The best you can get for anyone other than a guild mastered warrior that has CDef to 5 ranks.

If you're not using disarm offensively, you might be able to get by with 3 or 4 ranks in disarm and 5 in cdef and stay safe from disarm (barring open rolls of course).

That's as a square/semi, with wspec and lots more cman training than pure.

I had 4 ranks in disarm and was still reliably disarmed once every hunt or two. Go 5 or go home. I went home, to shield/brawl.

I love the board/brawl sorcerer build. I imagine cap is fun for a sorcerer.

Cap is fun, since you can reliably one shot ithzir adepts, and seers 90% of the time with Dark Catalyst, and bag griffins with 3-4 shots of Pain, depending on necromancy. But getting your Shield/brawl ranks up to 1x if you switch to it post cap is grueling. I had to sacrifice all my necromancy ranks, perception, survival and first aid (which i had for bounties) and I still only got about 40 brawl and 70-80ish shield.

So post-cap is just grinding away hunting to make more exp to fill in the gaps. Thank the gods for bounties letting you saturate yourself and instantly absorb ~300 exp each time.

If you have CMANs that you know only for defensive purposes, it is a good idea to drop a rank of each to get the points for 5 ranks of CDefense. That way, you have the same amount of defense in those areas, yet also gain defense against ALL other CMANs. If you can afford to get 5 ranks of CDefense in addition to rank 5 of other Defensive purpose CMANs, more power to you. Otherwise, it is a great strategy to increase your overall defensibility.
