We already have something in the works to update the janitor system. It requires an update from onsite, so that will take some time. But once done, it will transition some of the control of the system to us. It won't address all your concerns, but I think you'll find it is a positive step in the right direction in avoiding accidental item loss.

I'm glad to see something to address this problem is being done.

I hope it is fixed. How long have we complained about this though? I hope it serves as a testament to having a better staff of GMs.

I do not think they hired on that many 'better' GMs, I think they just got rid of some of the higher up ones that were slowing everything down and putting excessive restrictions on stuff.

Also, this is a great change.

Monks have been 'in the works' for 7 years now. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this if I were you.

Who said anything about monks?

If it is coming from onsite, expect it to take years. Hopefully, this has been in the works for a LONG time.

It would be great if they made it so that the janitor wouldn't pick up any item that was MARKed.

How hard would it be to add the logic routine that does something like:

Janitor picks up items
Is item registered?

If no then delete
If yes deposit item at location X (maybe a lost and found like boxes of belongings at the constables).

Person goes to location X, sees his/her box, pays finders fee box is handed over, break seal, get item(s).

The only problem I see with this is that it makes the whole adventure of "I lost my runestaff in hunting ground X" go away. If you got disarmed, then killed, you don't even have to DO anything but wait for it to be hand-delivered to the Lost and Found. I'd prefer for it to just never be picked up by the Janitor. If you're wandering around OTF at 3 in the morning and see someone's vultite claidhmore just lying there, you know SOMEONE lost it. You can grab it, hunt the person down, return it, and make an insta-friend-for-life.

And alternatively, if you lost said claidhmore, and nobody CLAIMS to have found it, well, then someone's flat out lying, and you get to sit and wait with blood in your eye for that sucker to go up for sale, or to be in someone's hand at the dais one fine day.

Alter scrolls would go up in value, and alterers would be in greater demand. Everyone would want to make sure their weapon (or whatever) was instantly identifiable.

I dunno... seems like an easy tweak that would add a few small levels to the overall experience.
