View Full Version : How should I fuck around with my fixskill?

I still have my fixskill from last year and am gonna use it just before getting the new one to change to some crazy build and just dick around for a day or two. Any suggestions? I was thinking something super magical or going for max AS / max DS or something like that.

I have 9.2 milllion exp to work with.

Also if someone has a burning research need that requires a fixskill I may be willing to help if it's not too time intensive.

I thought if you use fixskills, it resets the annual date to a year from to the day that you burned it. Am I wrong on this?

Go for a OHB open ambush rogue with 430 and 120, if you can.

Went with something similar although I have nice edged weapons so did OHE instead of OHB.

Shize (at level 100), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:

In defensive with WoF up and ranger/wizard spells:

Nalle swings an acid-pitted mossbark runestaff at you!
AS: +0 vs DS: +1005 with AvD: +10 + d100 roll: +66 = -929
A clean miss.

Nalle hurls a stream of fire at you!
AS: +282 vs DS: +946 with AvD: +55 + d100 roll: +70 = -539
A clean miss.

Drafix intones a phrase of elemental power while raising his hands...
Drafix gestures at you.
CS: +466 - TD: +417 + CvA: +15 + d100: +64 == +128
Warding failed!
Your mind goes completely blank.
(I was actually better at this in plate because of the CvA even without 430)

In offensive with same:

Nalle swings an acid-pitted mossbark runestaff at you!
AS: +0 vs DS: +686 with AvD: +10 + d100 roll: +28 = -648
A clean miss.

So subtract 100 DS from WoF and 80 from 202/503/611/618/911 and I'd be at 506 in 4x robes. I think with evade mastery and better robes that would be good enough in the scatter to not get hit physically. Especially since I could easily fight in advanced because offensively:

You swing a vicious black axe at a half-elven bandit!
AS: +666 vs DS: +240 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +41 = +511
... and hit for 141 points of damage!
Gruesome, slashing blow to the side of the half-elven bandit's head!
Skull split open! Brain (and life) vanishes in a fine mist.
The half-elven bandit rolls over and dies.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

And of course I know 117 so could go up to 741 AS easily.

This was fun too:

You trace a simple rune while intoning the mystical phrase for Major Elemental Wave...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at a human mugger.
A wave of formless black ripples moves outward from you.
A wolverine is buffeted by the formless black waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 55 points of damage!
Left arm explodes into thousands of pieces!
A wolverine screeches loudly while frantically licking its wounded left foreleg.
A wolverine is buffeted by the formless black waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 70 points of damage!
Back erupts in a bloody display of bone and gore!
The wolverine hisses one last time and dies.
A human mugger is buffeted by the formless black waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 70 points of damage!
Abdomen erupts, blood and bile splatter everything!

[You have 16 kills remaining.]
The human mugger rolls over and dies.
The mugger's paralyzed body slackens in the grip of death.
A half-elven bandit is buffeted by the formless black waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 10 points of damage!
Blood vessels in leg burst!
A halfling marauder is buffeted by the formless black waves and is knocked to the ground.
... 45 points of damage!
Left hand explodes into thousands of pieces!
The halfling marauder is stunned!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

All in all it's definitely a fun build but eventually I'll be able to get most of this even with my old build so it gives me something to look forward to.

Personally, I would have gotten 25 spiritual and 1x perception/disarm to DETECT my boxes before bolting them; I prefer not interacting with any characters if at all possible . . . it's my RP?

Sorry for the delayed response been traveling.

1) I was in plain 4x robes I bought off the shelf.

2) I'm in CoL so that is +35. The weapon is 8x. I also have rank 5 wspec, a 50 STR bonus with surge running (+ an enhancive) and about +50 more in AS from other OHE and CM enhancives. I was also wearing 509 and 211 from an impure potion in that clip.

3) Yeah no one in Icemule can reliably open scatter boxes anyway so I just use the town locksmith. At first I thought I was going to be able to do something crazy like 435/140 and have most of my primary combat skills but damn those spells are expensive. I have something like 1500 TPs converted to mental with that build.

And yeah I forgot to train in PF so I was rolling around with 28 HP for a few days until I picked up some TPs haha. It's definitely a super-powerful build though. I think the keys are 120/430, 2x weapon, 2x TWC, 2x CM, 3x dodge, 1x PF and 0.5x HP. You can do that with 9M exp, pick up a good set of high-enchant robes, and basically be untouchable with evade mastery. Keep in mind though I had no hide or ambush so it would be a big problem with warding spells in capped places. The next step would be to add 3x hide and 2x ambush. Then I think with the ability to vanish you would be pretty much untouchable. Pretty sure that's basically what Jaired has in plat.

I still like the heavy armor build better though and being able to fight in the open. I can get all the spells except 425 and 430 from others and imbeds and I hope to acquire items with those two spells.

Well I haven't capped yet, (lvl 91) and I want to finish up LM and GoS. After a little bit of time I decided to go ahead and finish GoS first. After looking at your build it makes me wonder if a build like this (see below) is viable for GoS (taking into consideration that I want to stay hidden the majority of the time).

1x armor - until 8 ranks
2x ranged
2x perception
2x ambush
3x hiding (or 2.5x depending on available TPs)
3x dodge
2x CM - until I get max ranks of surge/smastery/evade mastery/combat mobility
2x PF
.5x HP
1x MnE - until 410 (I have a pocket mage for spells)
2x disarm (or 2.5 depending on available TPs)

I figured this might work since there is no spell burst inside camps and the fact that I've got all outside spells covered by other characters. My defense will be high in the offensive stance (should I fall out of hiding) and my AS should suffice (especially with the ability to ewave). I can pop boxes with 407 (2x disarming helps this?) as well as see and disarm most traps. Also, I've got some nice 8x robes to boot.

Anyone think this is viable?

Perfectly viable, since what you posted is basically an Archer build, with emphasis on sniping.

Well doing 3x dodge might be a trick, but I figured if I negated lock picking and armor it might make up for it. I guess we can check in a couple of days.

I would get 2x armor, and drop 3x dodge to 2x. Drop to robes and get armored stealth; That's basically like having a permanent +40 to your Stalking and Hiding skill which will allow you to stay hidden whist sniping all the better.

Do you think 3x hiding wouldn't be able to cover me hiding in a camp? I mean 2x armor won't help my DS if I just happen to fall out of hiding, but 3x dodge would.

What I do, is pretty similar to what Unne does.

My path looks something like this, granted I'm far from cap but you get the idea.

1x Armor - For armor stealth
2x CM
2x Edged
2x TWC
2x Dodge
2x Ambush
2x Hiding
2x PF
1x Perception

Adding in ranks of HP, AS, MIU etc when needed. Eventually he'll also learn spells but since it's pointless to even train in them since I have a mage and healer there is no point in doing it now since I can just fixskills into them all when I'm able to.

Currently I have 10 ranks in HP, climb, and AS at 18.

I wanted alot of HP in the start so I can keep up my sigils while hunting, which is easily doable with concentration up.

Suffice to say, I have no issues still with things, besides the occasional warcamp and being warded. But I don't bother using sigil of focus so that could have been prevented.

But with even 2x hiding, armor stealth and shadow mastery, being pulled in camps isn't so common unless you are in a room of 5+. I tend to leave when about 4 are in the same room and take them out as they follow

Grimswarm can be perceptive fuckers. If you ever fall out of hiding, immediately vanish. I would think not ever allowing a AS/DS resolution is better than having to rely on Dodge.

EDIT: I think you can even do something like this and it won't cost you stamina if you're still in hiding.

I'm not sure about for a swinger, but for a archer 3x hiding > 3x dodge. I'm at 270 dodge (terrible grind) with spells up to 425 and 10x robes, and I'm over 500DS self spelled in offensive.

I only die to warding spells or webs in OTF, and since I can avoid both by being smart and staying hidden, hiding is where its at.

Nice thing about 200 armor ranks is I can armored stealth normally, but I can still throw on the plate for doing bandits since hiding against bandits is boring as hell.

I have all the outside spells I'll need, hence why I avoided MnS (that and I ran out of TPs). I left my picking low as I'm only 4 ranks out from wedges in the guild and I will be able to pop if needed. Does anyone see any blatant errors with this build or minor changes to point out? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on what area I should work on bringing up next (i.e. dodge, spells, picking, armor, cman)?

Thank you to everyone who has already given me advice.

No, but I just use Wolfloner's tactic of peering into rooms before I move in. Though, that is if I am hunting OTF, which of course I'm not doing at the moment.

As for the 3x hiding, it is awesome in camps, especially since I have up rank 3 armor stealth, smastery, 601, and 204. I fall out of the shadows maybe 5% of the time during my hunts at the moment, and vanish saves me when it does happen.
