One thing I am not is a numbers person.

Why did I get hit for so little damage on the +161 endroll? Even absorbing part of the hit with Stone Skin does not seem to explain it - I am wearing full leather using a runestaff.

Ordinarily I would be sore that a critter caught me in the middle of a cast macro, but this barely tickled:

A war griffin swoops down from high overhead!
A war griffin tries to bite you!
AS: +437 vs DS: +558 with AvD: +34 + d100 roll: +99 = +12
A clean miss.
>rub cry
You rub a blue crystal.
An invisible force guides you.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
>
An Ithzir herald stands up with a grunt.
>pr 518
You intone a phrase of elemental power while raising your hands, invoking Cone of Lightning...
Your spell is ready.
>stance off
cast
stance def
You are now in an offensive stance.
>A war griffin rakes at you with a razor-sharp claw!
AS: +450 vs DS: +425 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +99 = +161
A layer of shifting stone absorbs 7 points of damage!
... and hits for 8 points of damage!
Quick slash to your upper left arm!
Just a nick.
A war griffin rakes at you with a razor-sharp claw!
AS: +450 vs DS: +425 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +66 = +128
A layer of shifting stone absorbs 4 points of damage!
... and hits for 4 points of damage!
Whiplash!
>
You gesture.
You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a war griffin!
AS: +523 vs DS: +266 with AvD: +39 + d100 roll: +72 = +368
... and hit for 146 points of damage!
Horrifying jolt to forehead. Brain explodes in a stunning display of light!
The war griffin crashes to the ground, motionless.
The guiding force leaves you.

You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at an Ithzir herald!
AS: +448 vs DS: +310 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +65 = +244
... and hit for 82 points of damage!
Nasty jolt to chest causes heart to skip a beat!
The Ithzir herald is stunned!

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

The first attacked absorbed 7 damage for a total of 15, minus 3 for the crit damage is 12. 12 / 61 ~= 1 / 5 = .200 DF.

Second attack absorbed 4, did 4, total of 8. Minus 2 for crit damage = 6. 6 / 28 ~= 1 / 5 = .200 DF.

I see no problem.

Thanks Bob, I've never more than glanced at a DF or Crit table, and then shook my head.

I just hit as hard as I can and hope for the best, and with macros I seldom get caught stanced up.
