View Full Version : Importance of Dodge

All,
I'm recently returned, and looking to fixskill my warrior (35ish) before getting the next one.
He's brawling, TWC, 55 ranks of mstrike, and had thrown weapons up there... which still hasn't gone anywhere in my nearly 7 year absence: looking to drop it.
How important is dodge for this? As I'm going heavy in armor (already able to wear augmented breastplate at L34ish), and dodge's effectiveness is lower for heavy armor anyway... what's recommended? (especially with parry advantage of TWC and parry mastery
I'm currently 2x brawl, 2x twc, 2+x'ish armor, 2x CM, want to be 1x perception, and smattering of the climbing/swimming/brawling. I think I'm 1.5x - 2x PT (but don't recall, and can't login).

With my THW warrior, I 2x dodging. Every little bit helps IMO, and I have the points to do it. It'll probably be a little tighter for you though, since you train brawling and TWC. You'll want to 2x PT though(And I'd put that over 2x dodging), as that is your primary redux skill.

Hmm... as your THW, part of that dodge is balanced by my second parry; trading dodge for TWC as it is.
Doubled in PT currently: current info is below. Essentially have the ranks of 54 thrown to unlearn (will fixskill before I get the next one). I used to have a pair of 7x returners (I'm reminded), but thsoe may have been sold... might be in another account's locker, though, too

A while back I respecced my THW warrior from 1.5x dodge to 2x dodge, and even in my 60s, I noticed a nice difference. Hunting without spells went from being a chore to being pretty manageable. Not hard data I know, but just my $0.02 :)

The only time skipping dodge should even be considered is when you have decent shield training.
I still can't believe that Dodging doesn't help you actually dodge attacks or maneuvers. :(

Skipping dodge? Never considered it. Just looking to the optimum 'bang for buck' level.
1x? 1.5x? 2x? .75x?
Arguably, though I do have "shield training" TWC, which gives parry, and improved defense from one cman skill (pmastery) vs two (pmastery and block).
I'm currently at 1.5x ish: I'll see if I can squeeze in two and still fit in everything else I want: such as 1x perception

I use twc, and don't put much stock in dodge. I currently 1x it, but I've been known to drop it below that to push my mstrike up to get the next focused mstrike threshold. I'd definitely be at least 2x in PF, and I'd also look at pushing your armor up to get into full plate as soon as possible.
