So I picked up the javelin bando and I just haven't quite settled on the way I want to go. I am not sure if I want to TWC thrown or if I want to go shield.

Shield is appealing because of two reasons:

More defense, and lower round times. I can throw the javelin in 3 seconds with one of them. Its 6 seconds with both. So 1 second javelin throws.

So at 12 seconds with haste I have thrown 12 single shots or 3 double throws for 6 hits.

Anyways, primary will be hunting OTF. And this is my skills as they sit right now. Just not sure what to do with the off hand.

It's basically the cool factor TWC thrown - vs not. TWC thrown has some mechanical downside (sniping comes to mind) - and if you become encumbered it gets that much worse that much faster in my opinion.

You'll need a great AGI/DEX and Strength. Cool toys like the one you have certainly help. You may want to pick up a returning thrown based weapon for parry defense if you go TWC - since it never really leaves your hand.

IMO, with only 2x dodge and no hiding, you should go shield. There's gonna be times where enemies will walk in when you're in offensive after a hurl, and having no shield, 2x dodge and no parry bonus is a pretty bad situation to be in, even in full plate.

I couldn't imagine RT after a swing without Vanish at hand just in case.

Just to answer this, I went with 2x shield. Without any of my fun spells:

swings a closed fist at you!
AS: +91 vs DS: +432 with AvD: -23 + d100 roll: +39 = -325
A clean miss.

That is my defense in offensive without any parry defense.

swings a closed fist at you!
AS: +91 vs DS: +467 with AvD: -23 + d100 roll: +38 = -361
A clean miss.

That is with the parry defense. So while 30 is quite a bit, it certainly isn't a game changer. I dropped perception and went to 290 ranks of dodge, but they are migrating/waiting for fixskill.

Hope you didnt drop ALL your perception!

The calculation of a character's attack strength while using thrown weapons depends on a character's dexterity, Thrown Weapons skill, Perception ranks, and Combat Maneuvers ranks.

AS = Thrown skill + ((STR Bonus + DEX Bonus)/2) + ((Perception ranks + CM ranks)/4)

Note: If you train more than twice per level in perception ranks, they add no further benefit.

I did the 2 weapon hurling thing, with the returning hammers and 4s RT, its not bad, even with 2x dodge and plate, it was DS deficient.

Good decision on the shield.

I didn't drop all of it. I dropped the trippling.

Ugh, SMC? Why?

And why all the armor use?

SMC to get mana from my other characters.

All the armor use to make sure I get evasion.

That really is one of the better bandoliers. Pure thrown goodness. Well done.

Slowly adding in my spells and other fun tricks. So adding 29 attack seems to be good for now.
