I'm currently going sword-and-board, swinging a fal. Tried a THW build using a maul, but without a shield I seem to be the one getting mauled.

Is warmage a good build for GoS in Shattered, or does a bolter do better at lower levels? Right now, I'm mainly looking to be able to do the minimum warcamp razing requirement. I'm just inside my 30 day period so I can change builds easily.

Or should I just dump GoS and do the CoL thing? In which case I'm gonna have to crank up my skinning skills.

Any suggestions?

Why the 2x HP? Are you just using 410 constantly, whats your mana going too on a hunt?

Also I thought most warmage went up to 913 for the nice ds boost

Are you fire attuned, or using a fire flaring falc since your not going with the harder hitting maul?

Do you have enough ranks of air lore an MJE to get down to 1 sec on the fal, or the maul? It makes a huge difference

I use 410 occasionally as a setup spell. Guess I could back off on the mana a bit, since I mainly use it for hasting on hunts.

Right now I get pwnd using a maul, seem to need that extra shield DS.

Working on the air lore and MjE, just not there yet - so many spells, so little TPs.

How fast do you swing with the falc atm, are you 2 or 1 second, and have you tried a fire flaring weapon in there?

If you don't have something with massive crit weighting, make sure you're using a weapon that flares. 411 is a wonderful spell.

Until you have 27 MjE ranks, there's no need to get air lore really. You need 24 Air and 27 MjE to reduce a 5 second swing to 1 second. You'll only need to 1x harness power for life. You can drop first aid as well.

905 and 913 are huge DS boosts, 909 is also a better setup spell than 410 since it keeps knocking them over and creatures stance up when they stand.

I can't speak for warcamps because I never did them, but on regular fights your main advantage is being able to stance dance like a boss. If you're hunting manually in warcamps this shouldn't be a problem either.

If you drop those skills and triple wizard circle for a bit, you're DS will jump up and you should be close to having 909. Maybe try hunting another area for a few levels until you have 913. Try getting 3 ranks of feint to help keep them in RT, or get a lance and learn trip (which is what I did, and never even needed 909).

The DS from a shield is tempting, but as a wizard you shouldn't have to worry about DS pretty much ever if you have all your spells up. You probably just need a few levels to do a warcamp right. Warmages hit a big power boost once they get 425, can cast tremors, and then slightly later when they can swing in one second.

Oh, and try a claid instead of a maul if you haven't already.

I found that at higher levels my AS lagged so far behind that of my other characters that there was no way I could have used a claid and still hit anything. I really needed that +20 from vultite. I finally switched over to pure in my 80s as an immolation build.

At lower levels however, warmage rocked. Mine is an elf so I swung a lance for the big hard hits they provide.

Yeah, at the higher levels you need as much AS as you can get. Where he's at though (level 20) it's not really necessary. I prefer lances as well. They also happen to give you a DS bonus, which is nice.

Breslin went from 0-90 swinging, and only problem he had is when he was hunting the Stronghold. OTher than than he did fine in OTF.
