Ok, Looking to get a new monitor. Current Monitor is so old it should be extinct.

Current monitor specs..

Display Screen Size 19" Wide
Resolution 1440 x 900
Brightness 300 cd/mē
Contrast Ratio 700:1 (DC 2000:1)
Response time 2

has served me well.. but I need something better.

Trying to decide between two monitors right now. I really like the brightness and picture of the LED's. Just not sure which size is really needed.

Obviously I play some games on my Comp. Rift, Starcraft II, Call of Duty. Just looking for some advice from the PC world. 24 good enough? Or splurge and get the 27? or really splurge and get 2 24's? 2 would help with GS I would think. But not needed for video game playing.

I love my Samsung monitors, so that's my vote.

I have never pulled the trigger on Hanns-G or similar brands simply because I think the price difference doesn't compensate for knowing that I'm buying from a company I have a good relationship with.

That said, Samsung LED.

Better resolution + better price + awesome reviews.

Some reviews say it can be hit and miss on dead pixels. Though I hear that can be like that with allot of Monitors.

Is the slightly better resolution really needed? Also it's not LED, which I would greatly prefer.

As you can see, I am coming from a resolution setting that is insanely low.

Wait, WTF are you talking about (Androidpk)? How is 1920x1080 a "better resolution" than 1920x1080?

The monitor he is pointing to is 1200 not 1080.

I had the exact monitor PK linked to, and had no problems whatsoever.

Plus it is nice running HDMI into it from my video cards.

When I did get it, I did notice only 1 dead pixel, which to me is almost a common thing anymore with alot of LEDs it seems. It was in a position that didn't annoy me, so I kept it as it was.

I think all in all, I've owned 2 or 3 Hanns G monitors before and have never had any issues with them myself. Could be luck, and it just could be the typical pre-pubescent emo teen that writes lunatic reviews on items when they get them that causes issues with things like that.

Least that is what I gather from some of the reviews I read on alot of products I otherwise never have issues with.

Samsung is a great bet too though, as is LG, and even Acer or HP ones to an extent.

Dead pixels can be a problem with any LCD monitor, regardless of the manufacturer.

The connection options just look kind of weak to me.

other big problem I have currently, there is only 3 stores with decent monitors where I live. best buy.. Staples, and Sam's Club. None of which carry any of the monitors I am looking at.

I have that Asus monitor you have listed in your first link. Won it at Mohegan Sun and never opened it. I already have dual monitors, and my projector shining over my computer so I can watch TV. I have no use for it. PM me, I'll sell it cheap.

The description calls it 1080p, so whoever wrote that sure is a fucking moron.

I've got a Hannspree HF257, manufactured by Hanns G. It has been an incredible upgrade and I love it. No blown pixels. Got it at Staples for $200. I'm not a monitor expert but 25" and full 1080 HD is awesome at that price.
