Hmm, in keeping with the goals of trying to develop extremely long and self-amusing threads, why don't we have a topic where we post our, "Wouldn't it be funny if.." ironies that we think of in life.

I'll start

Wouldn't it be funny if the beer was drinking us?

Wouldn't it be funny if the stupid people were really the smartest?

Wouldn't it be funny if the democrats were the real christians, and the republicans weren't?

continue...

There was a Star Trek (the Next Generation) espisode regarding this.

There was a hologram (courtesy of the hologram suite) that thought he was real.

They eventually resolved it by tricking the hologram/AI into thinking that the hologram Enterprise was the real one, and then locked him into the holosuite programming, where the hard drive containing him had additional programming added to it, so that the hologram would have theortically unlimited adventures, as the programming would create new scenarios.

That was somewhat awkwardly explained, but the "twist" is what if you're the only one real, but you're trapped within some sort of hologram programming, while you think everything around you is real.

.

The kicker is of course, you're the only one you can be certain has a conscious. Everything else "reacts" to what you do...

When I was younger, I kept having dreams of events (as if I was experiencing them) to only come true, in that I actually live out exactly what happened in the dream, within a few weeks. Sometimes it was the next day, other times three weeks later. When it started happening (experiencing the dream) I immediately realize that I'm experiencing what I dreamt.

Nowadays I rarely get them, if at all... and I wonder if it's because I've been in three situations where I probably should had died in, but ended up unharmed...

1) drowing under a submerged canoe that I half-blacked out when I hit my head against it while underwater (I was pulled out by father)

2) freak skiing accident, where apparently the magnitude of how I lost control and tumbled/crashed through various obstacles, and emerging unharmed was unbelievable... which I did not realize till I meet up with the people I came with, who were on the other side of the mountain, and they explained that they heard what happened because a lot of people were talking about it. (apparently I should had at least a broken neck or something)

3) car accident where I hit an icepatch on the freeway, and completely spun from the left lane into the snowbank on the right (car was okay too, apparently) and person who helped me out said that it was a miracle that I missed the two semis that I spun across in front of.

.

Now after those three events, and that the dreams are very rare isntead of common... makes me wonder if I somehow "broke" some timeloops, and am in "uncharted territory" so to speak.

I used to have the same thing, happened all through middle school. It was weird. Now that I'm older, I have them very rarely, but they have happened from time to time.

I don't think those types have a very good understanding of what it means to be a Christian. They need to progress further on their spiritual journey.
