As part of the upcoming Spring Fete celebration in Solhaven, the Coterie of the Swan is sponsoring the First Annual Solhaven Community Auction. The Auction will be held in Solhaven's North Market South in a black canvas tent, beginning at 9:00PM EDT on Friday, May 6th. A percentage of all proceeds will be funneled directly back into the coffers of the participating groups, allowing them to continue to sponsor community events. With over a week until the auction I want to make sure it stays fresh in people's minds, and what better way that to feature some of the nicer items available! I'll periodically bump this thread with more details about a specific item available at the auction, Friday, May 6th, at 9:00PM (in case you forgot!).

Sais give an additional +10 ds when held in the off (left) hand. Thus, if you are also a voln-fu practitioner, keeping a sai out in the left hand while brawling would provide a ds boost over other brawling weapons.

Sais perform moderately to decently well against all armor classes except for the plate class compared to other brawling weapons. Sais may be of most interest to two weapon combat users who also utilize ambush attacks from hiding, providing an extra strike should a kill shot miss. If you plan to ground and pound more than utilizing ambushing techniques, you may be best served to use a fist-scythe in the right hand and a sai in the left.

The orbs included with the set are selected with brawling twc types in mind. A +4 dex orb and a +3 agility orb increases your agidex total which can help to achieve roundtime reductions, with this being particularly key for multi- striking or ambushing. Agility further contributes to defensive strength and dexterity increases ambush efficacy and greater natural crit weighting.

The +5 brawling bonus orb provides a +5 bonus to each weapon. Further, if you keep the sai with the brawling orb out, you would net a +10 ds and a +5 to brawling skill. Agility and dexterity also factor into voln-fu mb, so it may be best to keep the brawling orb and either DEX or AGI orb in the same sai for those purposes.

The final orb can be either a +4 twc bonus or a +7 ambush bonus. If you plan to ambush with the sais, the ambush bonus orb may be superior. The one thing to keep in mind is that for most professions, two weapon combat training is expensive and there may be more training value in taking the twc orb. Skill in TWC determines how hard you strike with the left hand, as well as reducing the chance of not finding an opening with your off hand strike.

Faint silvery inclusions glint from just below the surface, which has been buffed to a brilliant shine. A slender quillon curves gently upwards as if reaching for the polished blade while its twin bows down towards the leather wrapped hilt, silver gleaming like a sinuous wave. Set within the rounded pommel is a brilliant azure blazestar sunburst, its blue flames framed with a delicate dusting of diamond chips that catch the light and bathe the jewel in a disuse glow. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Scripts:

DUST - You carefully buff the blade of your rolaren warblade, removing the stray debris of battle.
CLENCH - As you tighten your grip, the familiar weight and balance of your rolaren warblade lends you confidence.
TILT - As you tilt your rolaren warblade from side to side, reflected light dances across its keen-edged blade.
TAP - You tap the blade of your rolaren warblade against the ground.
PUSH - You hold your rolaren warblade menacingly in front of you, its sharp edge glinting.
PULL - You pull your rolaren warblade in close to your body, its keen edge pointing outward.
GAZE - You heft your rolaren warblade in your hand a few times, admiring its simple lines and excellent workmanship.
LEAN - You set the end of your warblade's blade into the ground and stand confidently behind it.
WAVE - The blade of your rolaren warblade slices cleanly through the air as you bring it around in a sweeping arc.
RAISE - Your warblade seems to leap into the air of its own volition as you raise it in a gesture of triumph!

an azure canvas-banded cassone (Not Worn, VLA)
Show:Crafted of wood, the cassone's sides are covered with bands of azure and niveous canvas. Painted upon each wide stripe, and textured by gesso, are romantic scenes surrounded by flowers. Dressed in antiquated clothing, young women are courted by men in the various panels. The left side of the piece holds the blue-green image of Charl amid a crashing storm, while the right houses the lovely Niima. Silver filigree spreads across the roof in the likeness of storks with wings endorsed.

Show:Falling in unfettered lines to the pooling lower hem, the sleeveless garment is edged with wide niveous bias around azure Vornavian silk. Triple bands at hip-level bind the front of the surcoat to the back, while a thin belt of white adorned with stylized waves embroidered in azure that wraps in an off-centered fashion about the waist. Emblazoned across the chest is the image of a niveous stork in its vigilance.

Show:Smooth and well maintained, the medium shield is fashioned of rolaren and holds a uniform ebon hue. Stretched across the face, and bound in place by thin, knotted strips of sinew, is a beautifully preserved piece of hide. Dyed blue, the smooth piece is painted with a niveous stork in its vigilance. Thin letters are written into the lowest edge.

Show:Twin slats of mahogany are wrapped in fused strips of niveous and azure Vornavian silk to create a durable, banded sheath. Heavy silver embroidery creates a filigreed finish to the piece that is designed to resemble overlapping feathers. Metal caps, one on each end, protect both sides of the piece from fraying or similar damage.

Show:Azure-hued rawhide strips create an intricate braid around the silver hilt of the dagger that allows for a sure, easy grip. Caged in silver, a sapphire counterweight caps the piece at one end while beyond the filigreed hilt is a blade of ebon rolaren. Etched into the face is the image of an affronted stork with its eyes closed.
