Ha, I actually went gift shopping the other day! Good thing she reminded me last week when I asked her to help me move out on what I later found out would be mothers day.

Yay Tijay, good job.
I sent my mom an e-card and a gift certificate (in the mail) for a pedicure. This is the first year I think I've not been with her on Mother's Day.
The thing I hate about Mother's Day is that Dear Abby is always boring on that day with some syrupy tribute to mothers. I'LL JUST DIE IF I SEE ANOTHER ONE.

Nothing like a gift that says your feet are nasty to make a mothers day.

I didnt want to start a second topic so I dont mind if I hijack yours Ganalon. Just wondering if anyone has any little traditions they do on Mothers day for their mothers and/or grandmothers(weedie). My dad, brother and I always get up early and make my mom a little breakfast of fruits(strawberries, cantalope, kiwis...) with some coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice(we squeeze it by hand and its a bitch and a half when you have an open cut on your finger, trust me) and some other little food items. Then again my family is into all the organic foods. Later today we have grandparents coming and family from my mom's side coming to just hang out and let the women be together while all the men try to find excuses to watch sports on TV. What about the rest of you?
Happy Mothers Day.

Figured I'd mention this while you continue to kill the joke...You do realize that a good number of the people on these boards are over 28, hence older than I, right?
Elrodin! you thread hijacker! heh
I suppose the only tradition we have in my house is that I let my wife sleep late and cater to her every whim... its her day afterall. When my little boy gets old enough to appreciate what this special day means then we'll do things together for her like clean, cook, and let her have the house to herself if she wants a day of peace and quiet.

I got my mom a balloon teddy bear holding three balloon flowers. Balloons by Robbie rock! I also made her bed and put away the clothes that were on it and left the bear near her pillow. She thought it was cute.
I love you mom!

I just dropped a c-note on taking my sister and mother out to brunch. Damn you, dad, for being in London on business! I wish my mother wasn't so particular that we had to go to the $30 brunch buffet. :(

With my mother no longer living and my daughter out of town... this day sucked until I read that. Made me laugh.

P. S. I am older than Weedie.

Seriously though, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and never forget how special you and all the other moms are.

My mom got two of the same perfume today (what can I say, my family gift coordination sucks, Chanel No. 5). We stopped getting her flowers after she told us we were wasting our money.
On a side note, I gave my sister (whose adorable daughter is turning 2 in about 3 weeks) a book on starting menopause. She wasn't amused.

$30 for a brunch buffet?!?!? I hope it included champagne and stuff. I hate buffets, I always feel like I have to eat a lot and then I walk away feeling gross and yucky. But that was nice of you.
And Tijay, it doesn't mean she has nasty feet... but if I gave YOU a pedicure that's what it would mean:P

As far as Mother's Day traditions go, my family let's me sleep in, until the kiddos are soo hungry they can't take it anymore, they make me pancakes (have since my 11yro was 1) and bring them to me in bed. I pretty much get to relax all day. My hubby does lunch and dinner, as well as dishes and any household chores that need to be done.
In the early evening the kiddos will bring me all the neat little things they made me at school. Those to me are the most precious!
This year the Hubby gave me a new wedding set. It's gorgeous and I'll share pictures of it tomorrow. My original had gotten to small, and my oldest (lord love her) walked off with my ring to school and it never came back.

I was my mom's bitch for the day as her Mother's Day present. I painted the garage, planted (my fault for bringing her plants), gave her 3 dogs baths & haircuts, changed light fixtures and cleaned a fishtank. I didn't know I was so handy!
Happy Mother's day to all the moms!

Sent my mom some of my nature poetry I'd written over the past few months. Went with my wife and my wife's grandmother to the theater. Pretty good day.

It was at the country club my parents belong to. And there were mamosas a-plenty, believe you me. Apparently brunch, though it starts before noon, is an adequate time to start drinking.

My mom is on an African safari right now. <sniffs>
Least she's having a good time.
I'm making her this really beautiful photograph printed on silk chiffon. Kinda hard to describe the process but it will be a brown-tone print on gauzy silk chiffon.

I cooked out for my mom and her fiancee. I even let him help me put together a bench swing I was setting up on my deck. That wasn't too annoying. Gave her a few small things, but her real gift was me taking my little brother for Saturday & Saturday night and her picking him back up on Sunday. After 1 day with him, I can see why she needs to "get away" at times.

Mom gets mellower every year, so we tend to just be laid back and stuff. We (the boys) got her some flowers and a card, and a stuffed animal, I dunno what Dad did.
