View Full Version : Need help with lore damage factor bonus

Looking for a wizard with at least 100 ranks of air/water lore, in any combination, to post a log using 901, 910 or 518. Three or four attacks should be sufficient. The larger the endroll the better so low level critters are preferable.
The damage factor for these spells is increased with either air and/or water lore training. However, with up to 50 ranks the increase is .001 per two ranks rather than .001 per rank for other spells such as 111, 510, 903, 906, 907, and 908. The DF increase for these single lore spells is .001 per two ranks for ranks 51 to 100 and .001 per 4 ranks for ranks greater than 100. I'm just looking to confirm that 901, 910 and 518 (lightning based spells) receive half the DF increase benefit with lore ranks greater than 50 and that the bonus is .001 per 4 ranks for ranks 51 - 100 and .001 per 8 ranks for ranks greater than 100.
Either lore will increase the bonus. 40 ranks of air lore provides the same benefit as 20 air lore + 20 water lore. There is no requirement to train in both to gain the DF increase.

Had a talk on lnet about this very thing, searched but this is the only thing I've found on here about it. So what happened? Did this get confirmed by anyone or not? Or should I find someone to take test shots and post them?

No confirmation. If you can post a few attacks and the lore ranks of the caster that would be great. The DF bonus calculations are pretty straightforward as long as there is no damage weighting/padding involved.

Thanks for the data. The application of the lore damage factor bonus is more favorable than I thought. For the first 50 ranks, lightning based spells receive half the bonus of single lore spells which had previously been determined. However, for ranks greater than 50, single lore bolt spells and lightning based spells receive identical bonuses which is not what I had expected.
Single lore spells receive the following damage factor bonuses:
.001 per rank for ranks 1 to 50 (.050 total)
.001 per two ranks for ranks 51 to 100 (.025 total)
.001 per four ranks for ranks 101 to 200 (.025 total)
Total cumulative DF bonus w/200 ranks: 0.100
Lightning based spells (901, 910, 518) which are affected by 2 lores receive the following damage factor bonuses from either air and/or water lore ranks:
.001 per two ranks for ranks 1 to 50 (.025 total).*
.001 per two ranks for ranks 51 to 100 (.025 total).*
.001 per four ranks for ranks 101 to 200 (.025 total).
Total cumulative DF bonus w/200 ranks : .075

Wouldn't surprise me if those results are due to some GM coder changing the first 50 ranks to meet the intent of combined air/water spells, but forgetting to change the formula for the 51-100 and 101-200 ranks part.
