Just superheros? Or costumed crime fighters?

Hero: Has always been Wolverine, he was popular in the 70's when I read comics. Based on my comicbook collection, I'd say the Hulk was my second favorite.
Villain: I always was fascinated by the Hellfire club, so I'm going to go with Emma Frost or Sebastian Shaw.

Wonder Woman because she knows how to accessorize.
And the Joker for supervillain because he always creeped me out.

Wolverine. Healing factor. Adamantium. Claws. Attitude. Chops. Stogie.
Galactus. He eats worlds, motherfucker.

If we're talking sheer power, Superman hands down.
My favorite superhero though, has always been Spiderman.. just because he fucks with people before kicking their ass.

Hero - Captain America or Iron Man first, Spidey was a good third
Baddie - Jack Nicholson as the Joker -- this town needs an enema!

Galactus. That's name I haven't thought of in ages.
I read the fantastic four as they came out in the 60's and the Marvel website tells me they introduced Galactus in FF#48 (1966).
Galactus was evil incarnate and the thought of a being that came from the universe that existed before this one was, to say the least, mind blowing for a 9 year old.
Batman was my favorite hero.

Hero: The Tick. SPOOON.
Villain: Kang the Conqueror. History scholar, genuis, engineer, and physicist? Sounds like a guy I would have dated! My second runner up for supervillain is Mr. Mxyzptlk.
Deadpool. And he works both ways. I'm only sad that he didn't manage to kill Wolverine.

Superhero: Yeah, The Shadow. Especially when and where his style resembles V (even though I wasn't too big of a fan of VfV.)
Supervillain: Jeez. See if I say Kefka, you've got pure fucking evil. But if I'm gonna go with Walter E. Kurtz or Clayface, you get that tragic, mentally in-depth open to interpretation bad guy imho.

Hero: V
Villain: Apocalypse

Hero: Hmm The Hulk, or Mighty Mouse.
Villain: Dr. Horrible. Possibly Catwoman as no. 2, just because she had some depth and you knew Batman wanted her if only she weren't so darn bad...and she knows it and chooses to be bad anyway.

He almost got one of mine. I really hope they don't totally fuck up the movie like they did him in X Men 3.
I don't think I'd vote for regular Wolverine but Logan's interludes as Patch are pretty badass.

Am I allowed to call Emma Frost one of my favorite heroes?

The best super hero of all time is easily Batman as a member of the GL Corps. I think the image pretty much sums it up nicely.

I was reading the reviews for Game of Thrones and came across this one which had a great line:
Jon Snow is a similarly fascinating character, as is Tyrion Lannister, the imp who occasionally suffers from what I call “Alan Rickman Syndrome.” (In “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” Rickman portrayed Nottingham as if he was in another, weirder movie altogether.)

Hero: Batman. I base this on the fact that I had my mom sew me a Batman costume for Halloween when I was 7. That was before the gritty Dark Knight stuff. But then, as innocent as it was back in the day, it was still pretty gritty. A guy decides to be a vigilante after his parents were killed before his eyes... except he does not go postal, he goes lawful.
Villain: Dr. Doom. The reason why “evil” and “genius” are used together. Royal leader of a small obscure eastern European fantasy country, he had wealth and resources to complete his diabolical plans while still showing a kind hand to his people. Embarrassed by his disfigured face he wears a suit of technological armor. Badass.
SB did not include this in his non-poll but we need to talk super groups as well.
Super group: The Metal men. Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury, Tin and sexy Platinum created by the pipe smoking Doc Magnus who actually played a part in Doom Patrol, another of my favorite group titles.
