Shield bash question

I was wondering something about shield bash (and its charge brother) and the size of the shield used. On krakiipedia it says that size matters, but I can't seem to find any mention of which way it helps. That is, is bigger better or vice versa (at least, shield wise)?

The stated rule I remember from a millions billions years ago is that larger shields hit harder but are harder to hit with. What I found was that with 3x shield and 2x CM I was always (outside of epic fumbles) hitting with a tower shield anyway (with shield bash), so that's what I went with.

Because shield bash's outcome is randomized to some degree with respect to endroll, it takes a long time to determine what exactly "hit harder" means.
