Those don't impress me much. I checked out the blog too; some interesting references there. I'm more interested in a game that involves building and defense of a home base. There's one game referenced on the blog that is focused on that, but most of the rest are just hack and slash with a zombie skin.

This would be cool.

Have in game events where players are informed of the discovery of supply caches where they compete against each other (Or align in multi-factions) to clear out all the zombies and (possibly other players) from the cache area to gain commodities to build ammo, base defenses, research trees that open up more of the previously mentioned stuff, vehicles.. whatever.

Then have random swarms where zombies just pour in and go ape shit on all the player's bases to see if they stand up. Or see if they can stand up to other hostile player factions looking to raid you for the last twinkie.

So yeah, player vs player vs zombie FPS/RTS..
