It's software issues they've had for a LONG ASS TIME. And they know how to avoid it.

you know, I'm seriously not complaining here, becuase I'm definitely an advocate of the 'it's better than nothing' crowd, but seriously. MA groups are raping this event.
not that this happened in this instant, but so far lottery tickets are a waste of silver and spin and win is a waste of time. Still it's nice they try, and some of the gear off the shelves are nice, although if EG is anything like this, I wouldn't pay.

I know for a fact that the person that won the raffle only has one account with one character on it......
Although I do agree that MA groups rape 99.99% of events

It's a double edged sword (pardon the pun) because the MA folks do pay more than I do with my one premie account for the most part, and keep the game afloat with their money. They pay more, do they deserve a better chance of winning? Something to consider I suppose.

I say we find that winner, and burn his house down, I bet he's a gnome wizard or something stupid and lives at home with his mother!!!

PS: This thread is sarcasm since I know...
Still people with a buch of accounts are everywhere... I suppose there's no complaining about it. They pay for those acounts. I am not happy about all of those accounts putting tickets in either, but thats the way of it.

no, serously, no offense.
I wasn't really commenting on this particular event. Probably shouldn't have posted it here. sorry.

Dont like it? You can pay $10 more per month for each account and do the same thing.
Dont wanna do that? Quit complaining.
I only have one character but if someone is paying for 6 characters more power to em.

well, in hindsight, they should have at least put a nix on the temporary free accounts... never seen so many damn travel guides with 'my name is obviously temporary ticket holder'.

Eh, technically I could make....An unlimited amount of accounts before an event like this is coming up....And pay NOTHING for them all.
Then, I could log in said accounts, give them each enough coin for any raffles I want, and increase my winning chance by a large margin.
The problem with Gemstone as I see it, is not really the whole MA thing cause people do pay for those extra accounts, but the SERIOUS loopholes in alot of their raffles/events.

i don't know how the MA folks are doing it, i'm walking around with 3 of my accounts and 3 of a friends account and i've entered into just about every single raffle with all 6 and have yet to win one, i've been spun 1 or 2 times, all of my work has pretty much been done because of room order and a list. I did better at last years EG with 1 character and paid a hell of a lot less silver.

As in... the same people winning more than one raffle, etc?
I don't think there is any way loopholes will ever be filled. Kinda like... real life!

Wow, this is probably one of the most work-heavy events I've ever attended, free or not. I've been logged in all weekend and usually have to chose between 1 or more things to attend. And when there wasn't something going on I was solving the quest puzzles. Raffles are raffles, you don't have a great chance of winning, but you do have a chance.
Communication on merchants over blastchat and with all of the room number lists released has been amazing. Everyone in the world had access to that alias list--see an announcement about a particular merchant name? hit the alias. I've never seen one released that was so public before.
If you're finding things to complain about with this festival I'm not sure you're ever going to be happy with any gemstone festival.

It's just how it is. Some people are merchant/attention whores ( generally both) and run to every merchant be they need the service or not. (What, the raffle is 100k silver for a permanent missing leg? I need that! It fits the Rp I just came up with)
Then there are the spinner magnets. People that get spun so often it makes people think "Cheat!" 400 people in a crowd, and one guy gets spun, at 5 merchants in a row.
But when it comes right down to it. It's more lucky with the spinner, and statistics with the first. I entered pretty much every raffle I wanted, passed on attuning things I didn't. Haven't won anything, and haven't really tried for a merchant. I always consider free fests just a place to buy things. Any work done is a bonus.
Only complaint I have so far is the fact that bards that couldn't even sing sonics were allowed to enter the sonic raffle. No idea if any such won, but still. Would be like letting a level 2 sorc win a rare rune.

I tend to release stuff like that, since I know how frustrating it was/is/can be to try and find merchants with little to no help.
So I'm glad it was of use to people, even if it meant more competition for me!

Stop bagging on the MA peeps.
I have three active premium accounts, and 6 regular accounts. I got ZERO things worked on and won ZERO raffles.
It goes both ways.
Edit: And up until this singular post, I haven't bitched about the event to anyone other than my phone not getting tweets.

I wasn't all that impressed with the amount of services offered (and I mean excluding general alters, lightening and deepening, which are so easy to get in general that they don't count). But I guess my only points of reference are CCF and the '09 EG auction, both of which were pay events, which makes sense. This doesn't hold a candle to CCF. At CCF people won on average 5-10 major services or high-quality items. Even at EG you were guaranteed to get something from the auction, although some people ended up with subpar items.
Here I would say even if you entered every raffle you had probably a 70% chance of winning absolutely nothing. I had two characters enter every raffle and all I got was an enchant that I did not win but bought it off someone who did, so that doesn't count.
I wish there had been a more robust auction even if it was open to everyone, although I guess that's the difference between a pay event and a free event. Prob not gonna waste an entire weekend at another event though unless it's a pay event.

CCF was exceptional in terms of what was made available service-wise, and priced accordingly. In 15+ years of playing this game, I've never seen anything else like it. As awesome as it was, I'm not sure it's the best point of reference. EG 09 auction was also full of some pretty nice stuff.
This Spitfire run is a bit more typical I would say. They've put out quite a bit of stuff on this run, but you have to remember that with only minor exceptions it has been open to everyone. That means raffles with 450 entries, 250 people in one room hoping to get spun, etc. It just makes it a lot less likely that you're going to get anything.
There are also a couple of items never before offered that are being offered at this event: shield re-sizing and kroderine weapons made to order. Both of those are pretty awesome in my book.

That's the problem with free festivals, you're going to be drowning in MA groups. Tiered pay festivals are where its at.

Be happy you have a profession specific service. Bards and rangers are really spoiled in that regards. Most other professions rarely to never get profession only services offered.

True, we do tend to get them more often. Tho to compensate, we don't have a guild that does anything, nor can we do alchemy.
I would like to see more Profession specific raffles or services at each festival.
I wouldn't call alchemy a gift, heh. I did it because it was a mountain to climb, but there is next to no reward.
