Cool site! I think one thing the double aughts brought us was this extreme appreciation for food. Think of Iron Chef, Top Chef, and just the general blowing up of Food Network shows. We’ve seen the fast food joints also going to extremes like BKs Ultimate Breakfast, Hardees Triple Burger, KFC Double Down and now Denny's Baconalia. Also don’t forget Epic Meal Time.

Here you go, for people who like pork and cheap eats.

This is a "Boston Butt" - slow cooked for about 12-13 hours total. Started in a covered cast iron dutch oven - low and slow - and finished in the convection oven on medium high heat to caramelize the fat layer on the top and give it that nice dark color:

Seasoned with:

-Salt/Pepper (1:1 Ratio)
-Rosemary
-Garlic Powder
-Paprika/Cayenne Pepper Mix (1:1 Ratio)
-Cinnamon/Sugar (1:5 Ratio)
-Liquid Smoke
-Worcestershire Sauce
-Beef Base
-Honey

Really easy recipe that I made up (I work as a professional cook / chef IRL).

Just coat it with all the dry seasonings, rub into each and every crevice first. Put it in the dutch oven with maybe 1/6 of the whole thing filled with water. Add the beef base (you can do cubes or rub the outside with bullion), liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce. Cook like that for approximately 8-10 hours depending on the size. Once it comes off the bone relatively easily, you can add a layer of honey on top and finish it in the oven on about 350 F for 1 hour, rotate it once and braise after 30 minutes.

Alternatively, you can cook covered in the oven the entire time with water, or uncovered - making sure to braise at least once per hour. Either way works, but this is really good, healthy, and versatile. Also, where I live pork like this you can get for about $1.99 per pound if you buy 2. I usually cook one like this and then do one plain for our dog. Enjoy.
