training in any CMAN makes you defend better against that CMAN.

lots of people train in just one or two ranks of whatever maneuver the creatures they are hunting are using (for example, people who hunt in Temple Nelemar might train a rank or two in CMAN CHARGE). Not because they would ever use that maneuver, but simply for the extra defense against it.

I believe you get +15 against a maneuver per rank you have in it.
