HI everyone, this marks my first post on the PC. My rogue is basically a warrior who hides. High redux, sword and board, no general rogue skills of picking stuff. All the cmans I use are stealth orientated; shadow mastery, silent strike, vanish, dirt kick, and I also use garrote, which is why I am here.

I feel as though garrote is a tragic waste of TPs. Furthermore, I have acquired a nice spiked shield. Do any of you think learning shield bash for a rogue is wise, or redundant when considering our selection of cheapshots? I would enjoy getting a little more mileage out of my shield, but maybe it is wiser to learn surge or combat mobility first. I have considered that shield bash may just be another tragic waste of TPs,(as I mostly just hide, aim head, amb) and I don't feel like converting tons of cman points again. Your thoughts please.

You seem to want a hiding build. That said, any maneuver that takes you out of hiding is probably a bad idea. I liked shield bash on my bard, never even considered it on a rogue.

If you're 2x shield/2x CM it'd work fine but be weird. I'd use Sweep from the guild and definitely take Surge or Mobility earlier.

I think you should drop the shield and pick up a claid! Usually not following my advice is the way to go, so there you are!!

Thanks for the pointers. I was thinking that it would be pointless to have a redundant maneuver which only works out of hiding, when rogues already have enough such maneuvers. I just wanted to have some fun with the shield, but I think cracking skulls is a thrill enough. I will be using the points to pick up combat mobility, after I just got whacked, stunned, and eventually killed while in RT on the ground, it only seems like a good idea. As for a claidhmore, I tried that actually, I was not a fan of the RT and I felt like it was a bit overkill. OHE is fine by me.

I'm sword and board as well, and I too have considered shield bash just for the factor of being different. Problem is, I use a small shield due to higher dodge training than shield use, and as Gib said, it's kind of counter productive. Kneebash or sweep works much better than a shield bash for the reasons you're probably going to want to use it which is putting someone on their rear end..

As for garrote, it's a sweet skill, but I didn't like it for hunting. Definately something I'd consider having in the later levels just for the pure roleplay factor. Roundtimes and the vulnerability are just too much. One skill I've been considering picking up is coup de gras, for those times when you ambush head a forty times over and the fucking thing just won't die.
