About 15 years when the game was cool, there was an un-cool GM named Sayzor. He was a big wig at simutronics and I think rogue class dev. Any way one day I was hunting in the Sheru temple when I entered the locked room where the greater vruul spawned.
While hiding, a small party entered. All of a sudden the door slammed shut, and like 12 greater vruul and a bunch of unique mobs spawned.
Fearing for my life, I tried to escape, but noting worked. Then I remembered a little trick calld sign of darkness, which teleported me to COL. I guess Sayzor had laid this trap out with care but was so blinded by his coding ability, nothing could have possibly been missed. A minute later he sent me a GM Message saying next time there is a roleplaying event I shouldnt be a cheater and logged out of the game just to escape.
Sadly I had no way to let him know I used an ability to flee.
Another time when the devs released the new leveling zone for 110+ chracters full of vvrael, they unleashed the characters onto the towns as an RP event to signify the beginning of the new expansion. As a level 35 rogue at the time I had maxed ambush which I think was 180, and all I needed to kill anything with a total roll of 110 or more. The system was broke, I could 1-shot anything with crap rolls.
Anyways in the excitement of the invasions, I decided to come to the aid of some family in River Rest. No legends were protecting the village, so I made my way down there. I was able to 1-shot a dozen vvrael, clearing the town single handidly and becoming somewhat of a local story that day.
I simply found a vvrael then ran back to the previous room. Rubbed a unique Hereoism orange crystal charge, a blue crystal for the wizard buff str charge, then snuck back in. I hit sign of madness and then prayed for a high roll. As long as I rolled over am 80, I was able to get a 110+ total roll because my AS was jacked up so high, and I crit killed a level 120 mob at 35 in 1-shot. I did this until the town was clear. About 20 minutes later a GM sent me a message lecturing me about cheating and ruining the spirit of the game by not participating in the RP event. I was to be under investigation as well.
Make a long story short, much like the Mythic crew of Dark Age of Camelot (an MMO game), simu's devs thought themselves somewhat of e-rockstars and their egos were so out of control, it really was the worst part of the game for me. The favoritism for their friends, i.e. alterations, was also way out of hand. I still had fun regardless of the game's pitfalls.
