A spider-shaped onyx box

At this point, I'm still unsure what it's supposed to do, and I'm hoping someone has some sort of a clue.. Supposed to create amulets or something.

You tap a spider-shaped onyx box, which is in your right hand.

The ornate box is small enough to hold in one hand. It is hinged on one side and has a spider-shaped image engraved on the lid. The image appears well worn as if it has been rubbed many times.

You open a spider-shaped onyx box.

A rounded groove cuts through the center of the box from end to end. In the middle of the open box is a spider-shaped recess.
There is nothing in there.


Speaking to you, Droughtman says, "Let's see... that box will create imbeddible amulets."

I'm not sure exactly how this worked, and had to log before I could ask Droughtman about how it functioned. I've tried putting in wands, gems, statues, rods, amulets and rubbing it but nothing yet. Anyone have an idea?
