I was told that these player corner forums are a good place for information, and well having been lost for quite some time, I thought it be best to come here and ask for advice or opinions on matters I run into.

So my first question, as I am rather new to sorcery all together and have never followed it much in the past is this.

Which society is more versatile or worth going with as one?

Guardians or the council?

I like the concept of the guardians, as it allows for hunting areas outside of the normal ones, however it seems that the council caters more towards magic users the most in a sense.

So with all the great minds that supposedly hover in here, which society would I best be suited for as a sorcerer?

What race are you? Fast spirit gen = more wracking = more mana. Outside of that, meh.

Any sorcerer not in COL is gimped, IMO. Wracking does not effect CS, so you literally triple your mana supply at the cost of DS.

First No Gnomes is a gnome!

I am in the guardians, for my own personal reasons. I have fun with the different ways to use the sigils and since I like sacrifice that's what my spirit is used for. I seldom have mana problems considering that I use alchemy to offset things. Such as mana regen potions, and wands.

Very true as long as the sorcerer doesn't plan to bolt. All that spirit draining crapola will put a hurtin on that idea eventually.

Yeah, so it seems the most largest choice for sorcerers seems to be the council. I wasn't sure just how much I wanted to go with the guardians since I hear alot of sorcerers like to lick dirt when it comes to creature manuevers, and camps can have a mild few that induce roundtime, so I think I'll stick far away from that even if the loot is nice. Plus there is always just finding someone to open up a camp or join a camp if I am feeling a little frisky with dancing in the dirt

Fire spirit vs troll camps = win. I've MA'd most of my camps with sorcerer/empath and pretty much just hunt down the troll ones because of all the pretty numbers rolling across the screen when I set their asses on fire. As far as maneuvers go, they're no worse in camps than anywhere else you'll be seeing them. Trolls stun frequently when blasted with fire from what I've seen.

Obviously there are benefits to both. It just boils down to your play-style and what you're wanting to hunt, I suppose. I perfer to keep the option to bolt available to myself, so I went GoS in shattered because I get weighted bolts and don't have to worry about spirit. My sorcerer in prime was CoL for many years until I finally switched over to Voln to milk the hell out of Dreams before they ended up nerfing it. CoL certainly allows liberal use of high-level spells, but you're pretty much a one-trick pony after a wracking.
