Woman buys 10,000 Mars bars, drives off in limo
Wednesday, May 5, 2004 Posted: 1:24 PM EDT (1724 GMT)
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A woman with an apparently insatiable sweet tooth stunned staff at a British shop when she bought more than 10,000 chocolate bars and had them loaded into her chauffeur-driven limousine.
The woman asked staff at a north London Woolworths branch for every single Mars bar in stock -- 10,656 of them packed in 220 boxes -- and paid for them in cash with 50 pound notes, a Woolworths spokesman said on Wednesday.
The total bill was 2,131 pounds ($3,828).
"It was very, very strange but nobody thought to ask her why she wanted so many," the spokesman said.
"It would usually take us a month to shift that number of chocolate bars," he added. "Perhaps she has a sweet tooth."

Reuters has so much Democratic bias it makes me sick.
Or maybe it's the fact that the stupid vending machine is broken so I can't get any candy and (of course) the British are lording it over on me. :(

My girlfriend likes them, but that is more than she'd eat in the course of her natural life.

She confused them with Wonka bars under the impression she would find a golden ticket.
I coulda swore Wolsworth went out of business 6-7 years ago.

Snickers all the way. Its the only candybar I eat. I'll eat Hershey's chocolate with almonds if I'm desperate though.

Woodward went out of business I think, not Woolsworth.
I haven't even seen a Mars bar in a few years. The best chocolate (outside of the ones you can get in Paris for $5 apiece, you know the one with almonds in red wrapping?) is Toblerone.

They have Mars in the gas station by my house.
I find I like boxed candies more than the regular candy bars. Not the dark chocolate ones though (too bitter) just milk chocolate.
Although the chocolate covered mints tend to be dark chocolate and I do love those.

Mars bars aren't even available around here anymore.. they were replaced by Snickers Almond. Woolworths (there were no Woodwards around this area??) went out of business as far as I knew? Maybe it's still around in UK.

I think I remember Woolworth. It was a cheap-o type store out here, right?

Candy bars must have nuts in them. The only exception I make to this hard and fast rule are the Rolo chocolate covered chewy caramels. Candy bliss in bite-sized pieces.

Woolworths is one of the biggest chains over here, theres one in every town! Mars bars are also mega popular and yummie. I  them and Cadbury Dairy Milk with caramel, or snickers and sometimes kit kat chunky. Mmm I am totally going to buy lots of chocolate on my lunch break. Eating it will give me something to do while I sit at my desk pretending to work/look important! ;)

OMG the Cadbury vending machines in the underground were one of my favorite things about London. Crunchie bars...yum!

The best chocolate is Hershey's Symphony brand, plain. If you think otherwise you're a :noob:

We have the Big Kat Kit Kat here.. sounds like the same thing. And it's made by Hershey's... not Nestle.
