Alright, it was suggested that I test this sword on creatures that don't have natural crit padding for the easiest way to read.

I know there's some normal crit randomization in there, but it definitely has something over a normal longsword. I bolded a few # that stood out to me more than the rest.

Any math wizards out there who can crunch the numbers. Feel free. Thanks!

We'll need your dex bonus if you don't plan on using the script. If you do use the script, fill in the longsword avd/df hash and paste or attach the contents of the text file created by the script in your script directory.

Crit weighting and Dex bonus weighting don't play nice together. We know that weapon crit weighting is non-variable. If a weapon has 40 pts of weighting you will always have that amount of weighting added as phantom damage for crit rank determination. We also know that the full Dex bonus weighting is always added to the attack result for non-ambush attacks with a non-crit weighted weapon. What we don't know is how Dex bonus weighting stacks with weapon crit weighting. From my research they do not fully stack. The actual weighting is always less than the total theoretical weighting and there is some variability with the results.

Let's look at two of your results:

Weapon DF: .425 (longsword vs cloth armor group)
Armor crit divisor: 5 (cloth)

Now, this next attack will show a contradictory result if weapon weighting and Dex bonus weighting are non-variables:

Therefore, the maximum weapon + Dex bonus crit weighting is: 13 (44- 31)

So, in the first attack the minimum weapon + dex bonus weighting is 15 and in the second attack the maximum is 13.

Other relevant results:

My guess is that your weapon is VHC with 12 points of weighting. It is possible that the weapon has unique properties that would account for this variability, but ordinarily, if a weapon has 12 points of weighting those 12 points are always added as phantom damage. It is very unlikely that the weapon has more than 13 points of weighting based on the 174 endroll attack results.

Note: Because of crit randomization, any attack with an endroll greater than 204 is meaningless with a longsword vs a target in cloth armor.

Dex adds weighting at 1 point per 4 Dex Bonus, so you've got 6 phantom points of weighting there. You need to subtract that from your results with the longsword.

It would change things if your Dex bonus was less than 12, but since it is more you can safely stick with Mark's conclusion that: "My guess is that your weapon is VHC with 12 points of weighting."

It's not that simple. See my previous post.

Here's an example of a character with, coincidentally, a Dex bonus of 25.

You swing a claidhmore at a hobgoblin!
AS: +62 vs DS: +4 with AvD: +28 + d100 roll: +28 = +114
... and hit for 15 points of damage!
Large gash to the right arm, several muscles torn.
The hobgoblin is stunned!

DF: .500
Raw damage: 7
Crit rank: 3
Armor crit divisor: 7 (brig)

Claidhmore crit weighting: 40
Dex bonus weighting: 6 trunc(25 / 4)
Total theoretical weighting: 46
Total theoretical raw damage + weighting: 53
Maximum theoretical crit rank: 7 (53 total damage divided by the armor crit divisor of 7 truncated)

Since the actual crit was a rank 3, the maximum crit rank before randomization is 6. The highest total of raw damage + weighting for a rank 6 crit with an armor crit divisor of 7 is 48. With 49 damage the minimum crit rank possible is 4. Therefore, with 7 raw damage the maximum possible combined weighting for this attack is 41. When tested independently the full weapon weighting is always added as phantom damage and the same is true for Dex bonus weighting.

TLDR version:

Weapon weighting: 40
Dex weighting: 6
Actual weighting: 40 or 41 (either will satisfy the result)

The actual result is either 5 or 6 less than the expected result if weapon and dex bonus weighting fully stack. Obviously, they don't.
