In addition, this longsword has been sung to by three bards and none of them could pull more than the information above. Also, a high level Vaalorian warrior attempted to assess it and also couldn't pull more info from it. The GM's were unhelpful when I asked on the officials and only repeated what Droughtman told me.

This thing has the potential to be amazing however, since I'm tired of seeking out bards, warriors and being ignored on the officials you will have to decide for yourself. Go nuts.

I have something very similar, even with the same typo in the lore song. I've been trying for years to get more info on it. As far as I know it started at 7x. I brought it to 8x.

Here is what you do, give the blade to an elven warrior, let them get say 10 or 20 hits on something with known armor padding values (some low level beast), take the logs, post them here. One of the resident math df nerds will tell you how much weighting it has.

This is the way things were done before warriors could assess, it can still be done this way now.

I tried that once and didn't have the points required for the pcalc. Not sure how accurate it would be either considering the special properties. Would Sadie give a different value if an elf/non-elf were holding it?

Have this lich script on in the background. Use when you swing it, as long as you aren't ambushing it should properly calc how much weighting you have on each strike, if any. It controls for trunc(dex bonus/4). You'll have to fill in the longsword hash yourself.

I should note that when ambushing, it will still store the data in a txt file and echo to the game screen, but the script won't know how much came from which source (i.e., weapon or ambushing). Additionally, if a creature has crit padding (e.g., Destroyers at up to 11, being the top end of Heavy), you might not know you're adding any crit padding from your weapon.

You'll need to test on something other than a troll because the troll has crit padding. Based on this hit:

Longsword vs. cuirbouilli leather (what the troll is wearing) has a DF of .225, so that hit has 164 * .225 = 37 raw damage. With a crit divisor of 6 (the hit was to the leg which has a soft leather crit divisor), even with 0 natural weighting that should be a rank 6 crit before randomization and at least a rank 3 after randomization.

The fact that you scored a rank 2 means you had no higher than a rank 4 before randomization, which would cap at 29 damage, i.e. 8 points of negative weighting. Therefore, that troll has crit padding.

Yeah, thanks for looking at that. I posted some clips on the Game Mechanics forum of attacking some cockatrices that don't have natural padding.

Those trolls have some rediculous crit padding. The preliminary data that was looked at seemed to indicate at least VHCW. (In the hands of an elf.)

Maybe as much as exceptional, depending on Heshlon's stats. I'll be posting some more data tonight if I get a chance.
