I played with the fangs a bit, cleaning (906) and sharpening them.

Apparently all you need is a stone to sharpen them (I'm assuming a smooth stone is what they're referring to), but it does take some RUBbing to accomplish a fully sharpened fang. Fortunately, I had a whetstone that qualified as a sharpener, since I didn't have a smooth stone on hand.

As an aside, I will sharpen and clean all the fangs for the new owners.

You see nothing unusual.
The fang looks very dirty.
The fang looks duller than a kobold with a head concussion.

You should try rubbing your fang on something. Perhaps a stone of some sort.

You vigorously rub your fang in swift stroking motions against the whetstone, sharpening its point a bit.
Roundtime: 15 secs.

The stages of sharpening are:

The fang looks very dull.
The fang's tip looks more like a nub than anything.
The fang looks a little sharp, but not overly so.
The fang's point looks quite sharp.
The fang's point gleams with a precise sharpness.
The fang's tip appears sharper than a razor, and it gleams brightly.

It took 21 rubs to get to the final messaging below.

You vigorously rub your fang in swift stroking motions against the whetstone but it doesn't seem to do much good.
Roundtime: 15 secs.

One cast of 906 to clean the dirty off:
The fang's tip looks to be glowing red hot at the moment.
Messaging goes away after the fang cools off.

A fully sharpened and cleaned fang, ready for use:
