Ok so i rolled up a ranger last night and set him up to destoy things for the first 28 days and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good training setup and stat placement to maximize DS and AS. Not gonna use much spells till ohh 5/20 so the fixskill ill get then will help me change to that. Im gonna double armor till brig then move points to focus on dodging(still getting 1x while waiting on brig). Im gonna be an open aim so it ambushing needed to aim better? I know to 1x PF, HP, Spells. Im also gonna be foraging and skinning alot so im 2x survival since FA doesn't help foraging(i dont think). Im gonna 2x percep, and ranged. If i have left overs I was gonna get CMan or MOC(which is better?).

As for stats Im gonna go for 100 in strength and dex by whatever level I am at when my 30 ends with agi as close to 80-90 as poss(put the others to maximize TP's??).

Welcome to all idea's and suggestions will check in every couple days till 4/20 then put together my game plan.

Thanks for the help all.

I level a ranger up to 21 and planned to switch to archery. I found out that it is WAY TOO much work. You may want to look at the work involved in archery, specifically the arrows before you make that decision.

Yeah it's alot of work finding a wizard attuned to an element and have them eblade your arrows.

Get cmans over MoC. The only benefit from MoC would be better DS in force on force situations, as the ability to fire more than 1 arrow at a time is from cmans, and pretty weak too. Personally, I think ranger archers have a lot to gain from hiding, unless you learn brawling and voln fu. As for which cmans to learn? Whatever you like most, disarm would be handy.

Maybe MoC would be nice to have to keep your defense up in swarm situations since you aren't hiding, but it seems like a waste of points.

Check out Nuadjha's http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=49785 the art of the bow post for everything archery related in terms of skills. I just wanted to give me 2 cents on MoC and Cmans for an archer.

On stats, don't forget to place logic high, snce you want to learn as much as you can, as fast as you can...

ok so Im gaining exp while resting by fletching since its free so the arrows will be handled and a wizard to eblade shouldn't be hard to find i have another character who can make friends with wizards and get it done ;). I figured cmans over moc and use the little left over for more dodge cause if you can dodge em all then nothing can hit you for damage, and since im going brig the death crit will be lower(adv guild bounty points rock).

Yeah I have my own wizard and it is still a giant pain in the ass.

It takes about two seconds to eblade some arrows.

Technically, 3, with cast roundtime and all. Hah

Yeah and you got to buy new arrows, or pick them up and waste time in RT. It slows down leveling constantly having to replace or pick up arrows. Most people don't have their own wizard either.

I found that creating a few simple macros to aid in the process has decreased the 'work' involved by a great deal.

Now its just F1, (auto fire arrows) F2, (auto collect arrows). The only issue I sometimes run into is running out of ammo mid hunt, but that may be because I dont carry enough arrows on me. /shrug

Anyone with 411 can eblade, so wizard, sorc, rogue, bard and.........warrior I guess.

Well I guess I use bigshot exclusively to run hunts, and I expected it to be just as easy as swinging. I just guess it is a matter of incorrect expectations on my part, but I just wanted to point that out in case he was going into this with the same misguided expectations I have.

We get it, you can't handle the infinite complexity of ranged. Swing a claid, noob.
