The new OT boards are blocked at work, yet many other message boards relating to this game are not, including this one. What settings, if any, can one toggle in order to help a website slip past firewalls? Is it the way the website is catagorized, or something entirely out of the owner's control? The website is build via Godaddy, I believe, and written with Simple Machines.

There are many ways to get around firewalls. I won't go against the TOS and post them though. If you really like your job, I wouldn't even bother.

They probably have the emo filter set so you're pretty much screwed in regards to all things Dark Elf and sorcerer.

It's curious that the PC is not blocked here, though. This is what makes me question whether it is a setting on the site itself. Anticor, it's just fine to say you don't know the answer despite the technical nature of your job. I wouldn't think any lesser of you, guy. You're still No. 1!

You'd have to ask the admin. They might have certain phrases or character combinations blocked.

Can you install things on your computer?
Try Tor (https://www.torproject.org/index.html.en).
(Once installed, it helps to have an addon for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/torbutton/) or another browser to toggle it on/off.)

D's player is the admin, so if it can be changed it isn't an issue. Neither of us have any idea what to do, though. I guess I could e-mail Kranar. I thought it just might be common knowledge.
Maybe because it is attached to ObsidianTower.com, and that site must be registered in a certain way to qualify being linked to the officials.

It's important to me that you say it's find.
But you're correct I haven't touched a web filter in roughly forever so I have nothing of value to add.

It's against ToS to post that sort of thing? Huh.

You'd need to have your admin check to see why it's being blocked. It might be faster for him to say it's X Y Z that's causing it to catch in the filter rather try and compare all site settings from this board to the OT boards.
But if your net admin is a douche it's not worth the trouble.

I think he means my work's TOS. I definitely don't want to do that. I just want to be able to update the board from work by tweaking the way the website is set up. I'm thinking it is due to being attached to a site obviously for a game.

I think it's mentioned in the "Beating your wife" section of the ToS.

Beating YOUR wife is still okay, right?

Content filters will assign 'topics' to different domains -- since that particular domain (obsidiantower.com) has been around since 2008, my guess is that at some point in some mega-uber-content-filter listing it was flagged as 'entertainment' and that's why. (Basically exactly what you're guessing.)
You've probably just been lucky with this forum, mostly because the parent domain (just gsplayers.com) goes to a very simple landing page.

Sorry, I think of TOS as 'Terms of Service' for forums, games, etc, which confused me.

Wasn't aimed at you. Someone on these boards is obviously stalking me.

It is most likely this. Or at sometime the server you are on, being part of Godaddy, had their IP list classified as something "inappropriate". It happens a lot with spammers and Godaddy just hasn't been able to clean it up yet.

Yeah, this is just as likely. This is also why you have to be very careful when choosing an email host.

The way to check it would be to move the content to different, more reputable host. See if that gets blocked.
Then point the domain to that content and see if it gets blocked again.
And if not then you know it is filtering on provider/ip address instead of domain/content.
Or try to access another domain through godaddy that I know shouldn't be blocked.

HELLO THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.
AnticorRifling please check to see that the disgusting hangnail you have on your middle finger (left hand) has been trimmed recently. You seem to be confused about D's recently.

Please check the quoted post from Fallen where he says it's find and then notice how me saying find is joke at expense con Fallen.
Thank you.
