View Full Version : Any (good) reason to not convert a naginata

I recently acquired a halberd-based naginata for one of my alts. He being my first polearm user, I'm wondering if there's any good reason I wouldn't want to convert it to the proper naginata base. Obviously, the prior owner didn't, but I have no clue whether that was laziness or some reason. Since it's not a reversible process as far as I know, I figured waiting a day or two to become more informed wouldn't hurt.

Anyone have some obvious-to-everyone-but-me reason I shouldn't convert it?

It is one of those odd AvD shifting things, isn't it? One counts as a true +20, and one counts as an extra 20 tacked onto the AvD. I think people like old-style Claidhmores because of Weapon spec, but i've never heard one way or another which is better in the tertiary sense for Naginatas.

Yup 8x flaring sexiness.

Wait would they convert one you had or did you have to go convert it? I'd hate to think my old godendag is no longer 8x air flaring awesome on a stick.

You would physically have to get it converted. They did not auto-convert.

Ahh nice. I'd probably have a new style one to use for the AvD if AS wasn't an issue in a particular hunting ground.

Are you guys saying you cannot E-blade a newstyle naginata? I believe you can. It is just a 4x weapon with 20 AvD higher than an old-style naginata. It is all just shifting numbers around.

Exactly this if you mean 4x after e-blading it.

AvD is not stanceable. This means that you get +20 to hit in all stances, and +0 to defense in all stances.

It's not going to make a big deal either way. Legacy broken items are super lame, you should convert.

I still have said godendag.

You can acquire a higher endroll with a converted naginata - have it enchanted to 7x, then add in the 20 AvD and it's effectively an 11x halberd.

But I still prefer the old ones because 8x off the shelf is fun.

With my major enchant slot opening up in the next day or two, this is exactly why I was inclined to convert.

Thanks for all the replies. It'll be going to the misty/foggy/smoky/whatever-it-was chamber very soon.

How did you get it? It got sold?

really late on this. and probably too late.

the enchant on a weapon provides some DS. them old natural 4x ebladable nags to 8x flares. is better for DS than converting it.

If you don't like the little extra DS. there's plenty of newstyle to buy and use. why ruin the original and never to be made again items.
