Doing a poll, loving THW but have a hybrid build, can go either pure or swinger, still have 2 weeks to adjust stats but leaning heavily on THW. Whats your build and level and whats your degree of success?
THW?
PURE?
please have a reason for your choice as I'm looking for solid feedback please and thank you.

I've been solo hunting my cleric since level 8 with 302. It's absurdly easy, but absurdly boring.

I did sword and board to 110 in GS3.
When gs4 rolled around, i retrained to a pure.
Would I got back? Probably, it IS boring, 317 as long as I got the mana, then 302. 312 for a change of pace.
Why I play my archer and hurler now.
I like the THW build i posted for you, when the fixskill comes around, i'll probably make my locker cleric into that and play it now and then.

At level 39, mine is a generalist. Lots of raising, 302 (317/312 as mana allows) and when I run out of mana I voln kick anything I hunt undead or not. 301 helps with the fu and I don't find my own 302 to be more or less effective compared to fuing a held critter. If warding is an issue then fu isn't, typically, and vice verse.
Hunting is somewhat secondary to my raising, and I did race to be able to make a chrism and now am piling on the blessing lore. However, at his level he out hunts my wizard (both 39) due to the mana consumption difference.
My cleric is 31 and uses a lance. And it seems to be a lot more fun than just using magic. I'm having plenty of success, especially since he's a Voln type and all (I was doing some bounties against non-undead and it's extra stabtastic).
No idea how long it'll last, but being able to actually change skills now is pretty great.

Yeah I loved your setup for THW and i think I'm going to head that route, pure clearly seems the easier out in terms of straight to level cap but based on how tedious it could become I'd rather have more difficulty hunting and exploring how to master THW and juggle around fighting the creatures. I'll never reach cap so might as well challange myself all the way up there. Doesn't hurt having a pocket healer either.

Yah, pretty much how I am setup these days. Tough chars to play, a dual hammer hurler warrior, and a archer rogue that doesn't hide. Items help, pocket empath(s), cleric, wizard(s) to ensure I can get what I need without waiting.
Makes it more fun for sure.

I used polearms to about 45, switched over to pure. I noticed I was casting more and more to complete a hunt and decided to go all the way.
Sure, being a pure is kind of boring. It only gets exciting when the shit hits the fan in a swarm situation.

Yeah, I'm pure on my empath, looking for a change of pace just hoping should i go far that THW can take me there and I think it can be possible, if it takes me longer no bigs

I have a 34 level cleric that swings a THW which has been enjoyable to this point. The last few times I took him out hunting I found that I was having him swing a lot less so there is a good chance I will drop the skill this year. He's a brawling trained master of Voln so I choose to have him throwing, kicking and punching a lot more than swinging the flail. It's been fun to experiment with the class to see what I could come up with but it seems like simu intended Clerics (and Sorcs to less extent) to be much rigid in their training choices. In all fairness I rather have been able to swing my weapon of choice for a few levels than to never been given the choice at all.

Though the pure route is the most effective hunting route, it is also pretty boring for clerics. You can use 302 all the way to cap as an effective spell, but it gets old pretty fast. Current day empaths are what clerics used to be and would be the better choice if you are looking for a weapon using pure. If you enjoy RP'ing a cleric though, 330 can be amazing. Otherwise, they are one trick ponies while hunting.

My cleric is a pure bolter... mainly 306 though 111 too.

Lately I've been thinking about fixskilling to a THW, especially because I think it'd be bad ass to be able to swing my runestaff around like I should be able to anyhow. at 45 I've got more than enough mana to hunt undead(smite) continuously, but like everyone's saying. it's getting boring.
I use one of those fearsome white ora sledgehammers with my cleric. I haven't had any problems hunting, besides the occasionally maneuver that gets me, or encumbrance. I was thinking about going pure eventually, but using the hammer plus some other THWs is too much fun at the moment.
For other people who follow this route, how much do you train in HP? I'm doubled, but I never go OOM, since I am usually killing things with my weapons.

Do you train in MOC?

I'm contemplating this myself.
My cleric is 35 and right now set up as a pure CS build, rocking 302. He tears stuff up, but it is boring as hell. I'm contemplating going with a more diverse build.
I'm looking at a Shield/Brawl/Spell Aim build.
I would still have decent CS, but I would be sacraficing a lot of overtraining in the Cleric Spell circle and a lot of Lore to pull this off.
Pros: I would be able to CS/Bolt/Fu making my options much higher. It would also protect me from the disarming Skeletal Lords in Varunar and other areas to come.
Cons:
Lower Lore. No Chrisms that I current make. Lower CS.
My dex bonus is only +9. will be +10 a lvl 40.
OR, I could just go shield/brawl/pure
OR Pure CS/Bolter
I still havn't decided. Blah. Any suggestions would be great.

I didn't find it anymore boring than 301/214 target .. attack attack attack attack.

I've configured my cleric around 302 since his late 30s and he's 62 now. I haven't gotten bored of casting 302.
Just for shits and giggles, I'll spit out a 317, or if the room gets busy, then 319. The way I see it, not matter what, you're going to be casting-casting-casting something... just as a warrior swings-swings-swings. Personally, I don't see any significant difference between what three numbers you type over and over again.
For me at least, 302 works.
If it ain't broke...
I don't use THW but sword and board now.
Quick question. At cap will triton maneuvers annihilate most clerics no matter how they train?
THW at cap would be damn fun.

I have 0 CM and I'm constantly weighed down because I hunt with a rogue and so I'm the box carrier. I also have a ton of crap in general. Basically, with strength, I still can't get into an unencumbered state. I'm wearing brigandine (fully trained).
Now, which maneuvers specifically are you talking about?
I rarely ever 'defend' against a CM style maneuver.
The only times I really ever get into trouble from a maneuver attack (any of them) is when I outright die to a lucky eye/head crit, I get knocked into a lower stance in a swarm (and it's usually the RT that makes me sweat), I run into a situation where I just had no hope (running against an executioner alone and he drowns me).
It happens. It's rare though. The only things I really view as a threat are sentries and dissemblers because they can implode.

My cleric uses polearms, bows, and casts.
I like mixing it up. The bows handy for when encumbered, sets up nicely with web bolt too. Swing a trident (praise Charl). Having to train lores now screwed up my shield uses and mstrike, but eh--least i can make basic chrisms and such. I've only been back a little over a year from a ten year break, and sure miss zealot. (damn paladins)
Am 52 trainings still having fun.

How do you manage that? I mean... how do you have enough TPs/MPs to go around? You must be suffering at some other end- lower spell count, etc.?
He could never rely on his CS with that build. That's for sure.
