Could someone give me an idea of what this may be worth?

a vultite metal breastplate

18 lbs
+25

The harmonics generated tell you that the breastplate serves to reduce the severity of inflicted wounds.

The breastplate resonates with your voice, revealing some details of its temporary enhancement:
The breastplate's enhancement will degrade when the wearer is struck in combat.
It should be able to withstand an incredible amount of uses before its enhancement has completely degraded away.
When its enhancement has degraded away, the item will lose its special ability.

Careful examination indicates the vultite metal breastplate has a base strength of 75 and a base durability of 515. You also determine the current integrity of the vultite metal breastplate to be at 100.0%.

Examining the breastplate closely, it looks like it is temporarily exceptionally padded against critical blows.

Roundtime: 24 sec.

You analyze your vultite metal breastplate and sense that the item is free from merchant alteration restrictions.

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the vultite metal breastplate for you.

Thanks!

That armor just went for 1.5 mil and I think it was a steal. Has nothing to do with the enhancive bits. They did nothing to increase the value, in my opinion. Didn't hurt it sure.

Here you have MBP, generally a better armor base most squares use it longer than hauberk. It's 5x permanently. That's at least worth a mil plus. I can only guess, but even with it being temporary I could see it fetching 3-5mil. I'd pay 3, in a heart beat.

Well, if you want, I'd buy it for 3 mil. If you want to auction it, see what interest there is, then I say go for it with gusto and set your MB at a mil.

I think you can get between 3-5 mil for this. Basically, you can count on the padding lasting at least a year, probably closer to 2. So if you buy it for 3 mil, you're paying 2 mil for 1.5 years of ecp. Not a bad price at all, particularly if it's backup armor, in which case the padding will likely last for years.

The whole padding this lasting for years is bullshit, I've had Temp VHC brig fresh out of a box granted I got hit quiet a bit it lasted about 3 weeks...then I noticed me getting stunned more. So I had brute assess it ... it assessed as lightly crit padded in 3 weeks of constant use... Basically it degrades so do the temp weapons I had a Exceptionally crit weighted battle axe it later assessed as decently... Basically Temp really blows

It also had incredible amount of uses left ... when it assessed as lightly it would be nice to know what it degrades to and if it does

I guess our experiences differ. I've been wearing an MCP helm for almost a year and it's still an MCP helm with an incredible number of uses left.

Ya I'm pretty sure armor pieces are different but being armor... I believe any time its hit it takes some kind of charge being a helm it would have to hit the head and only the head

First I heard of this.

I'm pretty sure you're right in this. I wish we had a better understanding of what "an incredible number of charges" was. Anyone? Has there ever been official post on what the various messages mean? Or has anyone done much in terms of research?

Just post the question in the folder, on the officials, that the new guy posts a lot in. GM-Finros or whatever. Think it's the Combat folder or some such. No doubt one of the guys would respond if the question is presented clearly. They're responding pretty quickly with item questions. Might have something to do with Droughtman's and might not. ~shrug~

To take it a step further... if your wearing the MBP and get hit in the arms, does that take away a charge (the padding covers the arms, just chain not plate)? If it doesn't take away a charge that means the padding is going to last quite some time only losing charges on chest hits.

If it hits you anywhere at all, you lose a charge. Armor covers your whole body, period.

To my knowledge of playing with different items over the years, there are two different kinds of temp stuff as far as padding and weighting.

Some degrades as you get hit then goes away but stays at heavy padding or whatever the entire time. so 40 points at first hit and 40 points at last hit.

Then there is another type of temp crap that degrades as its uses are used up. So it might start with 40 points of padding/weighting but with lots of use it will be down to 5 points before you lose the special ability.

Some stuff blows up after the uses are all gone, some stuff sticks around, some crumbles to dust.

Factor all these things together and I'm not a big fan of Temp stuff. The first example is ideal at the least, but overall it's not worth much more then the base item would be worth cause the ability will go away at some point.

my 2 pence on the subject at any rate.

In my experience, all box found temp padding/weighting is degenerative. I had a set of expertly padded brig that lasted about a month.
