Not Brazilian, but the brunch buffet at the Four Seasons in Chicago gives the Fogo de Chao a run for it's money.

You know I am hard pressed by this question.
Local non-chain: Cafe Rustica - European dining with 4 star food at 3 star pricing.
http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/49/530283/restaurant/Downtown/Cafe-Rustica-Richmond
The chef is remarkable and I like the "hole in the wall, only seats 35 if you include the bar" type places. If you're ever in Richmond, it did make our top 20 restaurant list.
Local/National Chain: PF Chang's
I love their food. They tend to rush you somewhat in the dining experience but the meals are outstanding for a chain.

I eat free. I think eating at the Aberdeen Barn would kill me. Tapas would eventually make me homicidal. It's well considered. I'd have chosen the C&O but they fired my best friend's brother.
Peter Chang has left Charlottesville.

Yep, that's the one we go to. Even beyond the food, the staff is just amazing and we've never had a bad experience there. We had our wedding dinner there because it's THAT GOOD. I just wish it wasn't $50 a head plus everything other than the salad bar/meaty goodness. :/
My second choice would be Copeland's but only for their Sunday brunch. Their Sunday brunch makes me moist.

Should never be mentioned in the same sentence. You're even allowed to order dessert first now if you want. If I feel like having ice cream before my nachos, who does that hurt, huh? Dietary conventions are more like guidelines, anyway.
Ergo, eggs and mixed drinks for dinner. Or you can cut out the middleman, just mix a bunch of egg yolks in, you can hardly tell the difference, trust me.

Yeah, I was there in '03, '07 and '09. It got progressively worse. Granted, in 2003, it was really fantastic. It was a wonderful meal, and although the bill was jaw-dropping (hence the 4 year span between my next visit), I thought it was worth it.
2007 was the total opposite end of the spectrum. We were seated late. The service was poor. The food wasn't awful, but definitely not worth the $170/person or whatever it was before booze, tax, and tip.
I was taken there as a gift in 2009, and really hoped to repeat my first experience. It was sort of an unhappy medium of my previous meals there, and so I wrote it off. It still gets amazing reviews, and people love it. It is, after all, a R&C restaurant. I just think it's too expensive to continue to return and just cross your fingers.
ETA: Forgot about something I read about them a few months ago--30% discount to military personnel on the food portion of the meal, Monday through Thursday. I think it was only in January or February, but that's still pretty fucking awesome.

It would make a difference if the check had ever landed at my side. My visits were always with our lobbyist to impress somebody.
The upside to our sale in '07 is that I no longer have to deal with that sort of crap (corporate does all that and I am a small fish in a big pond). The downside is that awesome free meals on the company are few and far between.

Outstanding choices. I know the Inn is 5 stars/diamonds all the way around. One of only two in VA, depending on the source (I think that's AAA).
Obviously, Rob has higher standards than those who rate the restaurants. Actually, I'm not surprised. Rob, was the quality of food still there with a decline in service that the price could not compensate for, or was the food really significantly worse that last trip? I mean if the cost was $100 instead of $170 would it have been a different experience?
I know if service was the reason for this thread, I'd not have picked either of the restaurant I did choose. I chose for the meal alone, not the dining experience.

The title of the thread is "If you could only eat at one restaurant....," so clearly the dining experience is part of the gauge. What are you talking about? Did you read my posts or are you purposefully being obtuse? I talked about the service and the cost and the food.
And I never said I had higher standards. I was talking about my own personal experience. And the Inn at Little Washington is the only 5D restaurant in Virginia. There isn't another, although I think 2941 should be.

That's such a great feeling--finding the perfect burger. Coincidentally, I think it ended for me this weekend in Healdsburg, CA, and it wasn't even beef. It was lamb. Sacrilegious? Perhaps, but it literally was the best burger I've ever had.

We created burgers. http://www.louislunch.com/
"The beginnings of the hamburger sandwich as we all know it today was really quite simple. One day in 1900, a gentleman hurriedly walked into Louis' Lunch and told proprietor Louis Lassen he was in a rush and wanted something he could eat on the run. In an instant, Louis placed his own blend of ground steak trimmings between two slices of toast and sent the gentleman on his way. And so, the most recognizable American sandwich was born.
Today, Louis' great grandson, Jeff Lassen, carries on the tradition. The hamburgers have changed little from their historic prototype and remain the specialty of the house. Burgers are made fresh daily; hand-rolled from a proprietary blend of five meat varieties and cooked to order in the original cast-iron grills dating back to 1898. The Lassen family hold firm on their desire not to offer any condiments. The Louis Lunch experience is about the taste and simplicity of a fresh burger grilled to perfection. Cheese, tomato, and onion are the only acceptable garnish.
More than just another eating place, Louis' Lunch has held a special place in the hearts of New Haveners for generations. It was threatened with demolition in the early 1970's to make room for a new high rise. Scores of devoted patrons from all over the world took up the cause for its preservation. Plans for the restaurant's safe relocation were finalized just hours before the deadline. The historic building was loaded onto a truck and made a thirty minute journey to its final resting place on Crown Street. In an effort to help with the reconstruction, friends and supporters sent thousands of bricks to rebuild its revered walls from every corner of the globe. Each one has its own unique story.
Louis' Lunch is steeped in history and tradition. Your dining experience will be much the same as it was generations ago."

No, just kidding.
There's this little french restaurant near where I work called Les Zygomates that makes absolutely delicious food. I would not be disappointed if I could only ever eat there.
I just went there (Les Zygomates) for the first time last week. I only ordered off the bar menu (lobster roll) but it was still pretty damn good. Liked the atmosphere too. Certainly a much better deal than O Ya which is right across the street and costs more than Nobu.

My favorite place to eat was closed years ago to extend a highway. The Silver Lane Diner In E. Hartford was a perfect diner, including the jukebox in every booth.
Lately I go for the Golden Corral. A buffet with tons of choices, dirt cheap, and decent food.
:D

Golden Corral has really great pizza, surprisingly. And I like their pot roast!

The Bon Ton Cafe in New Orleans blew my mind. I still have dreams about the bread pudding there.
edit * I posted that and started thinking about the bread pudding. Then I had to google it. I thought I should share:

^^ This.
Buffet's in general, so I get a variety. Golden Corral in specific, because they're the best buffet restaurant I've come across, evar.
hmmm... taco-bell?
Since it will be the only restaraunt left in the future according to the Demolition Man movie.
But seriously, I don't think I have been out to a good restaurant since I was in NYC. Wish I could remember the name of the place, though it was pricey as hell, it was outstanding!

If you have a Copeland's near you, go for their Sunday brunch buffet. Kind of pricey but worth every penny!
Golden Corral weekend breakfast buffet is soooooooooooooo good too but i'm rarely hungry for breakfast by 10am.

I'm sure everyone simply thought you were being serious and chose to ignore it.

The Boardin' House. REAL home cooked comfort food. It was amazing.
The owner (Jake) ended up selling the business to a company who wanted to expand it into a chain... but ended up going out of business because they decided that the "home cooking" part wasn't necessary.
I'm glad Jake made a fortune by selling his concept.. just wish he would open another one up now :(

I think for coffee it would be Bay Street Coffee, by where I lived in California.
For food, I'm not sure, nothing here really wows me.
