After reading the forums for a long time, and seeing such posts as

Im just curious as to who are some people that are and have been positive folks to experience to RP with?

The list is long. There are some absolutely amazing people playing this game.

Nuadjha is cool. Aydan is good. Chiv can run circles around me. Evarin is excellent. Alisaire is always in fine form any time I see her. Itzel plays one hell of a queen. Maeriel, who I've only met twice was whipping out verbs I don't even know. Charna was always awesome. Rimalon is good. Godefroy is good. There are absolutely others but these come to mind first.

Truthfully, the folks I hang out with are on par with myself RP-wise. They don't challenge me, nor do they disappoint me. The folks above can all intimidate me with the quality of their roleplay. They know all the tones and how to use verbs in a way I never suspect. I stay IC, unless I am at a table or on the Drakes net (seldom), and only push myself rarely. That's my comfort zone that I like to play in.

I forgot Eugenides. That guy is freaking incredible.

I agree with this. I'd hate to leave someone out. Some names that come to mind are Dex's characters, Drew, Hedensk, ElvenLady, Eugenides, Ryvicke. These are mostly pure RP, but there are also tons of people who are fun to hunt with that don't necessarily role play. I had a blast hunting the citadel with Shize back in the day.
Despite the negative people who play GS, there are a good number of people who are positive and try their best to have fun and enjoy the game.

I'll toss out some apparently lesser-known names with Balah and Koquette, but really, most everyone around seemed to put at least some effort into roleplaying. Not all were the best at it (myself included, I think I managed to annoy people at times with my efforts), but if you did your part to stay in-character around them and encouraged them to keep at it by involving them without being snarky or just blowing them off, they only ever improved. I can only think of a handful of people that were notably disruptive.

I only got to play with Balah a couple of times but she was great. And her player's a top notch artist as well, although that has nothing to do with her roleplay.

While I wait another half hour until I can play Dragon Age 2... I'll add Nilandia to the list of fabulousness. She's not just a listmaker, and we are worse now that she has been lost to the cesspool of Plat.

I agree with the sentiment that the majority of the people that are left playing this game are good roleplayers, or at least care about remaining in-character and developing a history/motives for their character.

People like Eugenides and myself are just loud roleplayers. We know a lot of verbs and try to involve anyone around in whatever crazy jank we're doing.

I've seen and been involved in "quieter" roleplay that is just as interesting... and can be had quite easily, I feel, if you engage people in a way that lets them know you're not just a hunt/rest/hunt/rest killbot.

Playing a Khanshael was my first real introduction to roleplaying. I had a lot of fun with Rimalon who helped me along (so long ago now!) then moving over to Illistim to play with Eoghain, Evarin and Debia, Telare and Arulisse.
More recently, Vyctus/Prion, Lysistrata, Velai, Maleisse, Silima and the rest of the IBers.
Hanging out in Solhaven again really motivated me to sharpen up a bit, specifically spending time with Eugenides which was great for my RP. Bristenn must also be mentioned, along with Xanthias, Raelee, Shannivar and Kippe. Ondreian is also fun.
Since being in River's Rest I've enjoyed interacting with Ryvicke, Ayas, Rhove and Grotuk (I think that's his name) quite a bit.

Interacting with all of these dudes has really made the game WAY more enjoyable, and also really helped and motivated me to play my characters in the most "real" way that I can. Yeah, having sick gear is sick.. but hanging out with some inspiring people is what makes this game for me. Otherwise I'd probably still be raiding.

There are so many characters and players that I could name. One interesting thing for me is that my main character can't/won't visit elven nations; I have a big blind spot for people who spend most their time over there. On the other hand avoiding OTF and Teras has kept me away from most of the capped hunters which is a good thing. Capped hunters are the worst sort of people. So my experience with characters is very much mainland east of the Dragonspines, but even within those confines I've come across a lot of great people. I'm not even going to try and make a list because I know I'll forget too many people.

I remember Shakrean back from the days when I first discovered GS! He was always fun. I can name some names from way back as well. I know a few are around as different characters now. I used to always love Karlah, Jacina, Wulfhen, Drumpy, Taenz, Vintner, (and Ferites and Tehain!). I also remember having a lot of fun with Kadesha, that dwarven do-gooder.

Anyway, those are some of the characters that I miss. :)

I've only been back a couple of months but I've really been encouraged by the great RP I've come in contact with. Probably not a lot of it has been mine- after 7 years I guess its taking me a little while to get back into the swing of things. Most of the names already listed have stuck out though, and more besides!
