Lich, Stormfront, and Macs

What are the possible ways for Mac users to use lich? Is going through the Wizard the only option? I've a friend who would like to use SF on a mac, along with Lich. Is this possible? What programs can be used to simulate windows? Are there any mac users here that use lich and NOT the wizard? What are the differences between Avalon and Stormfront? Can scripts from the two Front Ends be used interchangeably?

I use Lich on a mac via Parallels with windows 7. I have seen other threads where folks have successfully run lich on mac with the instruction on the lich main page.

I use Lich and Avalon (Wizard), followed the directions on the Lich site. The install took FOREVER (hours) for me, though I'm inclined to chalk that up as a fluke.

As for running Windows, the two popular choices in software are Parallels (mentioned above, and I use it too, just not for Lich) and VMware. There was some discussion in the other thread about using WINE but that goes way over my head, plus I could never get used to Stormfront so I just stuck with wizard. Avalon looks a little better than the Wizard for windows just because it's newer, but they're basically the same thing. Finally, I think there are a few minor tweaks that need to be made for scripts to run in Avalon if they were written for Stormfront, same as with Wizard/SF on Windows.

same here, it was annoying to try and get lich to work on avalon.

I really liked Avalon, I could just never get lich to work for Plat, thought. It would work for prime for me and I learned a lot in that process.

Ok, so I've got the newest model MacBook Pro with all the latest updates and I'm running Parallels 6 with a Windows XP install. I've tried to follow the directions on the lich page to install Stormfront + Lich on a windows machine but when I try to install simutronics game launcher (the first step), I get this message (after using the default directory and clicking install on the next page of the installer):

check that your disk is not full and that you
have access to the destination directory. The

^^^ This is exactly how the error message reads and looks on my screen. The only option is to hit Ok and the installer exits.

I've tried to get this working several times so... I'm not sure why its dealing with ruby files when I'm just installing the simu game launcher (I went into the control panel and removed the ruby install from previous attempts before doing this). I've also tried installing Ruby 1.8.6 before attempting to install the simu game launcher. Results in the same error message both times.

When looking through my directories, the rubw.exe and lich.rbw files seem to be in the directories its trying to access but I don't see the help32.txt file in my Lich folder...

Any help would be great, let me know if theres any additional information I can give to help resolve this problem.

As of right now, I can't get Stormfront to work even without Lich.

I have a suspicion that the nature of my HD being partitioned to to contain my Parallels Windows XP install may be causing the problem but thats about the extent of my knowledge (no idea how to fix it if it is the problem)

Ok, so I got Stormfront to work by installing the stand alone StormFront installer instead of the simutronics launcher. I then installed ruby 1.8.6 and extract the lich folder to my desktop. When I run the lich.rbw file, the GUI pops up and I can log in and select my character, i choose stormfront, and then click Play but the GUI closes and nothing happens (StormFront doesn't launch)...

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
