Spirit Barrier (102) and Bolt AS

I was curious if 102 reduces bolt AS the way it does to melee and ranged AS? I've seen a couple wizards putting it on and was just curious.

No, it does not affect bolt AS.

There was definitely a time when Spirit Barrier effected Bolt AS. There was also a time when Call Wind would dispel Spirit Barrier as well. I think the Bolt AS penalty even applied in the GS4 era. I want to say that the change was a specific instance to adjust the spell, rather than a sweeping change which effected just this one.

I was a sorc mostly in GS3. I remember 102 getting dispelled, I just don't recall 102 effecting bolts.

Actually, I think this changed with an empath spell release.

Its pretty much a must have for bolters. Such a big ds boost. Just a pain finding a goddamn sorcerer to embed it. Luckily clerics can put it in a gem as well.

That's why I was surprised to see wizards using it. I was so sure that it used to lower all forms of AS, including bolt AS. Anyways, I'm glad they changed it. Thanks for the responses guys!

well... in 98 I remember it specifically lowering wizard AS, pretty sure it was a +50 ds boost -50 as
might have been 25..but i'm fairly certain it was a retarded high number like 50... it was def. not 20. also I want telekinetic disarm back still plz.

My recollection, which is a little hazy, is that they removed the AS bonus to bolt spells from Strength (509) and modified Spirit Barrier (102) from +50 DS/-50 AS to +20 DS/-20 AS. Initially, the new version of 102 still penalized bolt AS, but after numerous board complaints (primarily about the loss of bolt AS from strength) the bolt penalty (-20) from 102 was removed as a compromise.
